I was just trying to create a 'guilty' feeling inside others, so that they can stop doing so!:tup:

(And yes, sir, i am not a mullah or someone like that!)

and you consider yourself Muslim? Who are you?

Don’t talk to person who drinks about drinking. Instead, on suitable occasions, talk to him about God. Tell him what He is and what He means to us. If he is able to understand that, he’ll ask you how he should stop drinking. But even here, don’t pester him. Your attitude towards him should be the attitude of a person who sees his friend moving towards his own destruction. Therefore, your attitude towards him should be of love and concern. To make yourself effective in this regard, you’ll have to maintain your ethical superiority at all times in mutual dealings.

Due to people like you, prejudice against Muslims is on rise.

Next stop will be legalizing drugs and prostitution?

Like somebody said yesterday on msn,

We can have India-like policy in the country..... where they are allowed to sell alcohol but forbidden to advertise or promote alcohol

So I am in favour of both Yes & No @ poll

Do you really need ads to promote alchohol ???

How can tourism of a country run without ALCOHOL? Look at Dubai, what is not happening there even they are Muslim. Thanks BD - as there is no ban for liquor.

Alchohol was banned in the late 70's after Bhutto gave in to the demands of the Mullahs. So it should be known to many here that Alchohol was legal in Pakistan and so were other things like gambling.

Its up to choice for someone to sell, buy or partake in something. In my opinion, Alchohol should be legalized in Pakistan because currently gangsters and extremist groups bootleg alcohol raising money for their cause.

Another problem that we face is the ever rising alcohol poisoning in the country as alcoholics in Pakistan produce their own or get them from dubious sources.

very precisely do this rather than going bonkers .. its rather hipocratic to implement this, i dont know what point will this silly proposed ban will prove when there is a shop litrally every 2kms in karachi.

Regarding Bhutto, want to share something, one of my uncle attended a huge gathering where he was the chief guest. And during his speech somebody asked him aloud that he's a drinker.

He replied;

"Han bhai daroo hee peta hon na, koi halwa to nahi khata."

After that the drive against alcohal started.

And regarding the last part ,well if not with poisoned alcohal(methylated one) there will be huge number of cases from simple ethanol abuse.

Just quoting for instance.

Ethanol is the most commonly abused drug in the United States, with approximately 10 percent of
the adult population qualifying as alcoholics. Approximately 40 percent of the medical hospital
admissions are related to ethanol abuse and multisystem organ dysfunctions secondary to chronic
alcohol intake.

@ topic i'll say i'm satisfied with Jana's reply but differ in a sense that instead of nipping the evil in the bud.We are giving it a free hand.

legalise it but only for forigners and in limited quantity..we dont want any drunk accidents..imagine a drunk taliban armed with AK47 of sucide jacket??

Next stop will be legalizing drugs and prostitution?

legal or not those who want to engage in vice will do it regardless..anyone can get hardcore drugs in Pakistan and particularly rampant in NW areas. I stayed at Karachi ramada and was solicited for everything from girls to drugs and booze..which is really shamefull!
