The Ramu incident was targeted to the Bengali Buddhists, known as Baruas, they are quite pleased with the prompt government action and not a single Barua has migrated to Burma. Muslim influence in the kingdom of Arakan

Well, the Bamars are the main black sheep here. Muslims and Buddhists had been coexisting peacefully in Arakan/Rakhaine for almost ten centuries. Arakan was always independent from mainland Burma since the Arakan Hills acted as a major barrier, while it was more integrated with Bengal. Problems started when Arakan was invaded and occupied by the Bamar king Bodawpaya and merged with Burma in 1784. Both the native Rohingya Muslims and the Rakhaine Buddhists were expelled from the Arakan by the ruling Bamars. They were given refuge in Cox's Bazar, Chittagong and the surrounding areas of south east Bangladesh by the then British Empire. When relations between British India and Burma became hostile and the Anglo-Burmese war broke out, the Rohingyas sided with the British to oust the Bamars. After the decisive British victory, most of the Rohingyas, along with the Rakhaine Buddhists, returned to their native land in Arakan. When the British left, the Bamars began to take their revenge on the Rohingyas which continues to this day. After the independence of Burma, initially, both the Rohingyas and the Rakhaine Buddhists unitedly led an armed conflict to have an independent Arakan state. To weaken the movement, the Bamars deliberately created tensions between the Muslims and Buddhists in the Rakhaine state and kept the Rakhaine Buddhists in the recognized ethnicities but the Rohingyas were deprived of their citizenship.

Both countries having thousands of years of unique civilization, Both majority Buddhist nations, Both have minorities perfectly assimilated, Both countries had thousands of aliens transplanted there by the British during colonial times, For their empire building purposes from what was then British India, Both have one particular group of people not assimilating with the main stream society, And in turn damaging the social fabric of the nation

Both Burmese and Sri Lankans are global minorities with unique culture and languages found nowhere else in the world fighting for survival against threats from neighboring masses

Definitely. Remember also that the Burmese helped fight off the Chola a thousand years ago and received a tooth relic in return. Our countries are very much intertwined in culture and history. BTW a cashew in Burmese is known as a 'thihol si' or 'Sinhalese nut'

"Arakan" is the name of the place, not any ethnicity! Both the Rohingyas and the Rakhaine Buddhists mention "Arakan" as their native place, so even if the site shows results on "Arakan", what does it prove? We both agree the place called "Arakan" exists, aren't we?
