Britain bans Indian Muslim preacher

An excerpt from Nakir Zaik’s lectures:

Brothers and sisters, sisters and brothers, a Christian brother in the audience asked me about a Hindu sister who has a Mormon brother who wants to marry a Jewish sister, but the Jewish sister, like my Christian bother eats non-halal chips! Well, my Christian brother, it is clear that your religion is weak, as is the religion of my Hindu and Jewish sisters, and the religions of all my non-Muslim brothers and sisters and sisters and brothers in the audience, because eating non-halal chips and chewing on non-halal pencils makes them weak. They have only sin on their minds, darkness in their hearts, and chips in their bellies. So, basically, brothers and sisters and sisters and brothers, what I am really saying is that we Muslims are actually a race of Übermensch supermen! Here, check my biceps.

I think his last comment was kind of a shot at humor.. in a messed up serious way.

Mr. Naik is accused of corrupting the minds of millions and putting thousands - if not more - on the path of intolerance and extremism. He is accused of exhorting people on the path to terror. If you consider a principal, large scale motivator of terror less sinister than a foot soldier who gets 5 minutes of fame, then good for you.

I am not sure where you got that from ???

The article says:

LONDON: Britain has banned a radical Indian preacher, who claimed that “every Muslim should be a terrorist,” from entering the country, a paper reported Friday, citing the interior minister.
Zakir Naik, a 44-year-old television preacher, had been due to give a series of lectures in London and northern England but new Home Secretary Theresa May decided to bar him, said the Daily Telegraph.

“I have excluded Dr Naik from the UK,” said May, cited by the paper.

“Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.

“Coming to the UK is a privilege not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.”

May, a Conservative politician who became home secretary in the new government last month, has the power to exclude or deport an individual if she believes their presence in Britain could be dangerous.

Naik had been filmed on a website making inflammatory comments, interior ministry sources told the newspaper.

According to the Telegraph, in a web posting from 2006, he said: “Beware of Muslims saying Osama bin Laden is right or wrong. I reject them ... we don't know.

“But if you ask my view, if given the truth, if he is fighting the enemies of Islam, I am for him. I don't know what he's doing. I'm not in touch with him. I don't know him personally. I read the newspaper.

“If he is terrorising the terrorists, if he is terrorising America the terrorist, the biggest terrorist, every Muslim should be a terrorist.” —AFP

He is neither promoting terror, nor asking anyone join any terrorist organisations ...He has the right to think independently and has the right to express his opinion and if British govt does not agree with him, they have a right to "ban" him , but that does not make him a terrorist or a terrorist supporter and it would be very wrong to club him with some very nefarious terrorists.

where are my indian brothers who were supporting Zakir naik for not accepting Two Nation theory and when there comments are needed for Zakir naik they have vanished....

We don't support anybody for everything he/she does, we support actions/words of the person when they are correct, and if it is wrong we condemn. NON ALIGNMENT POLICY. :agree:

What a double standard he is not teaching extremist, but his own view on Islamic teaching. and a reasonable scholar.
what a free speech in west ?????????:angry:.

Free speech in west is given to its own citizens. It does not mean that citizens of other countries are entertained to speek offensive about western countries. Do you understand the difference ?

Are you defending Zakir Naik?

I am not basing my comment on just one statement of his. His views on sectarian issues are also well known and indefensible. He does - broadly, on multiple issues - promote intolerance. That's all I'll say on the subject because there have been several Zakir Naik threads on this forum which have beaten this topic to death. I have also listened to many of his statements and lectures on TV and there is absolutely no doubt that the guy is just an unqualified b******.

I have heard many his speeches and I might not agree with many of his comments but "me" not agreeing with "him" does not make him a terrorist or an extremist...He has a right to an opinion, which may differ from mine but unless until his views is causing some kind of "public unrest", he has right the to express it.
And that is called "tolerance".

Nonsense...freedom of expression means freedom of expression even if you disagree.

The morons who protested the solders in England are traitors in my opinion but that does not mean they cannot protest.

Similarly they should let Naik preach if he wants. As far as I know he has never preached violence against others.

It's not about your opinion vs. his. It's about him providing religious "guidance" to his followers that encourages discrimination, promotes intolerance and "fasaad".

The other thing I will point out that people who claim to be religious leaders or scholars - specially those who are given the media opportunities Naik is - need to be held to a much higher standard than you or I. They claim to be a moral authority and they also claim to interpret God's word (which I dislike, but anyway, it is what it is). They are in a far more powerful position to misguide than an ordinary person is. When Zakir Naik says, xyz sect is non-muslim, it immediately promotes intolerance and hate towards that sect amongst his listeners. When you or I say it, it might be our personal opinion. When Zakir Naik tells people, "God says christians or jews are a b and c", people are more accepting of it because he has the audience, he has the media slot on Peace TV, he has the ads promoting him as a religious scholar of some sort, he has the posse proclaiming him to be the pre-eminent authority and so on. Neither you nor I have that.

Anyway. This is my last post on the subject. Please search the board for previous for/against arguments re Zakir Naik.

I completely agree with you on the above ..but that still does not make him a terrorist

People who migrate to other country and try to spread hatred should be treated exactly like this.

Excellent news from Britain. Whether Indian or not, such hate preachers who demand an entire community to become terrorists should be not only banned once but have a permanent ban to travel to any country at least in Europe.

I am surprised how Indians can tolerate such hate mongers and give them fundamental rights. Such people who incite hate and violence should be banned from any fundamental rights of any country.

I already see the Cameron government undoing the chaos that Brown created with his neo-socialist ideologies in Britain.

As a wise man once said, " One person's right should not become another person's terror".

Very Good Move

Pakistanis must stop supporting the stooge & his party who are against the very foundations of this country, Don't let the religious myth take over your rationality & nationality

It is indian matter and should be discussed on indian forums.

Pakistani comments are necessary because the Stooge has probably more fan base in Pakistan despite of the fact that he's against ideological foundations of this country....

& BTW i thought you are a big fan of 'Muslims & Only Muslims'
