Congratz to EmoGirl for freeing yourself of the Mind-poison, called religion, than. :)

@Topic:

Directly inciting violence and hate is not something a foreigner can do and claim free speech.
Btw. it is almost funny how some people here call for free speech when it comes to a hate-preachers, but cheer for censorship when it comes to cartoons...

It is about time the Brits got their wits back when it comes to letting crazy and dangerous people in their country which will prey on susceptible Muslim youth.

Dear Zaki... IMO... there is too much artificial about him... his topics and discussions are very narrow minded unlike scholalry... we do not know his background... his motives and intentions... how coul dhe survive in india? and being so unacceptabl to UK?
in any case he can't be compared with scholars like dr. Israr.
There fore i have very passive opinion about him... leave him to indians... he's their property.

Dr. Israr said that Ahmadis should be punished to death.

Wahabbi Muslims are CRAZY!

But seriously though, what he said was totally out of nowhere and was a smack across the face!

What had Zakir Naik said one week before he was banned? | TwoCircles.net

New Delhi: “I have spoken out on numerous occasions against all and any acts of terrorism and I have unequivocally condemned such acts of violence; acts including 9/11, 7/7 and 7/11 (serial train bombings in Mumbai) which are completely and absolutely unjustifiable on any basis,” eminent Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik had said on June 11, exactly a week before he was banned (June 18) from entering Britain for his alleged support to terrorism and “unacceptable behavior”.

Dr Naik had issued his signed statement in response to media reports in Britain preceding his scheduled visit (June 18-28), portraying him as “Preacher of Hate” and “Terror Backer”.

“I believe recent press reports in the UK media have given a warped and wholly unjustified impression of my work by portraying me as “Preacher of Hate” and “Terror Backer”. I categorically reject as falsehoods any such allegations. These are totally untrue and a misrepresentation of the truth. It appears these sensational headlines have been based on some of my quotes that have been given either without the relevant context or are completely wrong. It is clear from my talks, that in Islam, terrorism; the killing of innocent civilians is completely forbidden and as such I have unequivocally stated that no Muslim should be a terrorist.”

Dr Zakir Naik had clearly stated that during his UK tour he will give a message of peace and a clear and concise message to young British Muslims that terrorism and violent extremism, including suicide bombings killing innocent civilians have no place in Islam.

“My tour to the UK will be focused on delivering a message of peace based on Islamic values and bridging the gap of understanding between the major faiths. My visit will include engaging in constructive and positive dialogue between members of different communities and to dispel the misconceptions of Islam. I will be delivering a message of peace, unity respect and tolerance for any differences that may prevail. I also understand the sensitivities and current difficult climate prevailing within the west and therefore my tour will also include a clear and concise message to young British Muslims that terrorism and violent extremism, including suicide bombings killing innocent civilians, is totally unacceptable and has no place in Islamic life, based on the Glorious Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed.”

“I hope to reach out to all youngsters and persons generally who promote confrontation and violence in the name of Islam; to engage in peaceful and constructive discussion with other communities, authorities and government to deal with any issues or grievances they may be fostering,” Dr Naik said in his June 11 statement on the letterhead of Mumbai-based Islamic Research Foundation that he heads.

He had said that he was discussing with lawyers in UK seeking legal remedy for his distorted image in the British media.

“It appears that some of the quotes have been taken from edited and manipulated excerpts uploaded onto the you-tube website including a talk that I delivered in 1996 in Singapore which was prior to the 9/11 atrocity. I am currently seeking advice from lawyers in the UK on the legal remedy and actions in the light of these reports.”

But ignoring his clarification about his views on terrorism and the purpose of his UK visit, the British government decided to ban him from entering UK the day he was scheduled to – June 18.

Announcing the ban, British Home Secretary Theresa May said: “Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.” She further said: “Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.”

BBC quoted a spokesman for Dr Zakir Naik as describing the move “deeply regrettable”. The UK government had bowed to pressure from certain groups to exclude him, he said. The spokesman further said Dr Naik had been holding talks in the UK for 15 years and the decision to bar his entry was disappointing.

Meanwhile the Muslim Council of Britain has deplored British Government move to ban Dr. Zakir Naik from entering UK. The Council said UK Home Secretary Theresa May’s action “serves to demonise the very voices within the world ready for debate and discussion.”

I don't agree with many things that Zakir Naik says but there are many other things that I do and I'm sure many others would as well.

The fact of the matter is that he has been to the UK multiple times and given lectures in the US, UK Cannada and other countries. UK has laws against hate speech and incitement. He was not arrested under these laws even once. In other words UK's own laws don't see him as inciting hatred and terrorism.

Again you can have difference of opinion with what he says, but unlike the Taliban or Osama Bin Laden or LeT and Hizbul, not once has he advocated killing of civilians but has infact condemned it categorically man times. He has also categorically stated that suicide bombings is haram even if its for Jihad.
And he has time and again stood up against the political Islamic ideology of JI and Hizbut Tahrir that is the root cause of terrorism in the name of Islam that we see today.
Coming from a Muslim minority country and as a person who advocates against identifying yourself separately from the your country (i.e. Two Nation theory) he would have given an understanding of how the Muslim minority in UK should live in co-operation with the christian majority and use democratic tools to protest if needed.

In any case, there is a rise of right wing parties across Europe and this is a consequence of that. Although I am surprised at people comparing him to others like OBL or taliban or LeT and Hizb who openly advocate killing of people including civilians who don't agree with them. There is no comparison with them even if you might disagree with all his view.

Brother Zakir Naik is just another Maulvi saab. It has nothingto do with Pakistan or India. He is a scholar and we should take him as a scholar only and not Pakistani or an indian

@ his religious opinion

Well Sahabas (companions of the prophet) too did had difference of opinions regarding various issues and so did the renowned scholars but it does not mean people start disrespecting them and swearing them like happening in this thread. You can agree with his opinion or disagree..... thats your opinion and you are most welcome to do so. But bashing at him unnecassarily is sick

My last post here :D

Real good job by the interviewer putting forth the right question for his answer. Islam is not a military wing, it is a struggle for ones self to be better by the rules provided to them by God.

Legal challenge to ban on Muslim preacher Zakir Naik

An Indian Muslim preacher banned by the home secretary from entering the UK for his "unacceptable behaviour" is to challenge the ruling in the courts.

Zakir Naik, a 44-year-old television preacher, had been due to give lectures in Sheffield on 25 June and Wembley Arena the following day.

Theresa May said that visiting the UK was "a privilege, not a right".

The Islamic Research Foundation, based in Mumbai, India, said he was seeking a judicial review in the High Court.

The home secretary can stop people entering the UK if she believes there is a threat to national security, public order or the safety of citizens.

That includes banning people if she believes their views glorify terrorism, promote violence or encourage other serious crime.

However, somebody cannot be banned just for having opinions that other people would find offensive.

Ms May said: "Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.

"Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.

"Exclusion powers are very serious and no decision is taken lightly or as a method of stopping open debate on issues."

This is the first person who has been excluded from the UK since Ms May became home secretary last month.

Mr Naik is based in Mumbai, where he works for the Peace TV channel.

The Islamic Research Foundation said in a statement: "It is deeply regrettable the British Government has bowed to pressure from sectarian and Islamophobic pressure groups by preventing the entry of Dr Zakir Naik, who has been visiting and delivering talks in the United Kingdom for the past 15 years.

"Dr Zakir Naik is undoubtedly an opponent of terrorism and as such has often spoken out against all acts of violence and violent extremism.

"He has emphatically and unequivocally condemned the killing of civilians and is one of the world's regular noted orators on this topic.

"In the wake of the exclusion order and based on legal advice, Dr Zakir Naik intends to bring the matter before the High Court... and request a judicial review to have the exclusion order overturned."

like minds always unite, as is the case here in the PDF, the extreme biasness towards people religion etc

second, according to your theory, that the violence inciting should not be considered as free speech, than what about the danish cartoons, it "incited" violance, but it was labelled as free speech and the western countries followed this examole by publishing cartoons in other newspapers also!!, and this the example of "biasness". is it western dictation what to label free speech and what not to??

if you hate religion so much, did religion raped you literally??

I am not a fan, because some of the things are just plain wrong and hardline.

this is a joke really, that his speeches are labelled as "threat to national security", there is noting in his speech, another scholar name is ahmed deedat, he was also banned to enter some countries, it was because he debated and compared religions which was unbearable for some christian preachers.

That includes banning people if she believes their views glorify terrorism, promote violence or encourage other serious crime.

he has never done so, his opinions are regarding the so called war on terror, palestine etc when uncle sam always defends it by saying they are terrorists, so he says that if they are terrorists, fundamentalists so lets be one. he is defending the innocents.

However, somebody cannot be banned just for having opinions that other people would find offensive.

exactly, this is the case!!, some people and certain lobbies must have raised a hue and cry and for his debates and UK is a country bound to follow orders.

at emo_girl, i know some people here in PDF who have "very moderate" opinions like you, but still they said that it was better if partition hadnt happen, and they are pakistanis and sitting in think tank!!
