Breaking: Trump to Deliver Statement on Syria

If the question is does Russia capable of protecting and defend it's ally Syria from today's attack? The answer is probably yes if the Russians willing to pay the price for it. But obviously Russia didn't want to risk all out war with the west or didn't think it's worth the risk and the U.S correctly called Putin's bluff. It's humiliating for Russia no matter how you look at it.

even if russia soldiers are attacked they will not respond.their 100 soldiers were killed by u.s air strikes and their jets were downed by turkey but they do nothing .they know that their jets cannot face u.s fighter planes in real combat and will be easily downed and it will be more humiliating for them.russia have no trust on their weapons and also lack courage.look afghan taliban they not have aircrafts and ships but are fighting back every time with u.s and allies.they also not have any allies.this shows to fight a war and winning it depends more on person faith and courage than weapons and allies

There were no Russian soldiers killed. Stop repeating BS stories. US doesnt attack Russia in Syria so Russia doesnt attack US. Incedent with few killed Russians happened because they have not coordinated their movements with central command.

Russia control Syria and US cannt do anything about that. Thats the ground fact and not your fantasies. Maybe US is not aware about all that easily downed Russian jets? Tell them.

Now, all eyes on Russia and whether they would deliver on their promise to target the missiles as well as their launch platforms. Seeing that the strikes were launched from coalition naval combatants and aircraft, it's doubtful that will ever happen.

if russia doesn't do anything the US just called their bluff and had a major victory. this will make europe,, ukraine and NATO very confident on how to deal with russia in the future.

The most effective way to deal with cruise missle is to take out the platform that launches it.
Yes and I'm afraid Russia may sink an american or nato destroyer just to put them in there place. Very easy to overwhelm a ship's defences. The question is will they and what will be the aftereffects.

Ever heard of anti-aircraft gun shells that explode in the air?

You ever heard of proximity fuses in which a proximity fuse detonates when it’s within target range?

And an S-200 is not an “aircraft gun shells”. You can’t even destinguish between triple-A guns and missiles. The closest thing to triple-A that Syria has is the Pantsirs and those don’t use proximity fuses when firing its canons.

one promise to shoot missiles is already breached and i expect they will not fulfill their promise

All I care is whether USA send in F35 or not.

Russia please sink one nato ship. I want to see share price and property crash, and Wall St tycoon jump down.

The only viable way to deal with a stealthy fighter is to deploy another stealthy fighter.
S400 won't work against a stealthy target I think.

And how Europe, NATO and Ukraine will deal with Russia? Please enlighten me. Running around and bark : "Assad should leave", "Russia should leave Crimea", "Russia should leave Donbass", "Russia should leave Georgia"?

And what Nato and Europe will do if Russia will deal with Ukraine the same way?

President Donald Trump might have given Syrian and Russian forces too much time to prepare for potential air strikes, defense experts say.

The world is bracing for the U.S. response to the Syrian government's alleged chemical attack last weekend on a rebel-held town. Since the attack, Trump tweeted about potential missile strikes multiple times.

"If Russia and Syria were smart, as soon as President Trump indicated early this week that an attack was possible, [Syrian President Bashar] Assad would have begun moving any and all military assets close to or on Moscow's military bases in-country," Harry Kazianis, director of defense studies at the Center for the National Interest, told CNBC. "This would include aircraft, helicopters, artillery and even ammunition or high-value weapons—anything you might think the U.S. and its allies might consider a target."

A source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told CNBC on Thursday that the U.S. was considering striking eight potential targets in Syria. Those targets include two Syrian airfields, a research center and a chemical weapons facility.

The source also noted that Syria's military has repositioned a significant amount of air assets to Russian-controlled airfields in hopes that Washington would be reluctant to strike there.

Meanwhile, Trump is seeking a large-scale attack in Syria that would also punish Iran and Russia, but Defense Secretary James Mattis has been pushing back, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing administration officials.

The following graphic from the Institute for the Study of War, or ISW, tracks the movements of military assets and personnel following a deadly chemical weapons attack believed to be carried out by the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

According to the ISW report, Syrian aircraft located on the outskirts of Hama, Homs and Palmyra have relocated closer to heavily defended airfields across Syria.

"Aircraft relocated from the Seen (Sayqal), Dumayr, Shayrat, and the T-4 (Tiyas) Air Bases to the Bassel al Assad International Airport in Latakia Province, the Nayrab Air Base outside Aleppo City, and the Damascus International Airport," the ISW report states.

Russian and Assad regime forces have enhanced their air defenses around Syria's capital, Damascus, and deployed short- to medium-range surface-to-air missiles to the Mezzeh Military Air Base, as well as other sites in the city.

"Pro-regime officials also reportedly issued an alert to the Syrian Arab Army to evacuate personnel and assets from military bases across Syria," the report notes.

Weapons research center reportedly evacuated
The Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center, a government body responsible for research and development of advanced weapons systems, was reportedly evacuated amid potential strikes. In addition, Iranian proxies have reportedly begun exiting Syria.

Syrian and Russian soldiers wait at the entrance of the Wafideen Camp for the arrival of buses carrying Jaish al-Islam fighters and their family members evacuated from the Eastern Ghouta town of Douma, on April 12, 2018.
Experts note that since Trump hinted of a potential U.S. strike against Syria, the regime has had several days to execute contingency plans ahead of the attacks.

"This, in fact, could be why America has slowed its preparations for a strike — many of the best targets to stop Assad from gassing his own people might be now on Russian bases," Kazianis said. "Trump would then need to ask: 'Is war with Russia worth it?' He may conclude no, and have to decide on another course of action."

The Assad regime has denied responsibility for the April 7 attack in Douma, a town that was held by Syrian rebels.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has since reported that approximately 500 people in Douma were treated for "signs and symptoms consistent with exposure to toxic chemicals."
