Bloomberg: China risks repeating the mistakes of the Soviet Union in the confrontation with the United States

IMO, US and China will never go to war, both economies and countries will grind against each other, and come to a settlement 10-15 years down the lane. China doesn’t want to pick up the mantle of being the world’s policeman either. Both countries seem sensible enough to not enter into conflict.

IMO, never say never. :)

no one anticipated the first world war either.
all it takes for the US and China to go to war is a miscalculation.

the growing narrative in the US military is that China is overtaking it economically as well as militarily. and that it would be better for them to make a first strike on China now rather than later while the gap is not insurmountable.

There will be no war.

It's suicidal.

USA and USSR never directly into a war, because everyone knows the consenquences.

And that was 30+ years ago.

Going to war today, between USA and China is even more suicidal.

just because mistakes were not made 30+ years ago does not mean that mistakes will never be made.

USA is on decline now many countries can take on USA . its not dollar era of 70s to 90s . FORGET USA

I give you facts and all I receive is hot air in return. China, a country with 4x the population of the US, is still years behind in GDP. That’s embarrassing, and shows how absurdly productive and wealthy the United States is.

There’s a reason why millions immigrate to the United States, because they know they can achieve their dreams here.

Your fact means little, to be frank.

The GDP number and national wealth means very little too, since a large part of them are merely accounting tricks/hypes played by the US, that doe not mean much when China along acount for 50% of entire world's industry capacity and is 10X of that of the US.

Btw, even by nominal GDP numbers, China this year will have ~$18 Trillion GDP, and as for the national wealth:

And in 2019:
The US total national assert is 368 Trillion USD (including 110 Trillion of them are just finanical fraud "asserts"), the total national debt is 253 trillion USD, the total net national wealth is 113 trillion USD, the debt to assert ratio is 69%.

Whilst China in the same year, has a total national assert of 1655 trillion RMB, and the total national debt is 980 trillion RMB, the total net national wealth is 675 trillion RMB, or about 105 trillion USD, the debt to assert ratio is 59%.

So even your much inflated national wealth comparison, you dont have much of an upper hand.

All in all, China has far and away more real industrial power than the US (10x I mean), have a much better debt 2 assert ratio of their economy and grows much faster too, thats why China can still just spend 1/4th of the nominal dollar defense budge and produce more ICBMs, tanks, fighters, UAVS and launch more warships, submarines than you, lets be honest, in an arms race, you are simply far outmatched and outclassed by China, actually your leaders seem give up that idea a long time ago (althrough if you can elect Trump-like idiot again we may even see a new arms race started by the US,could be just as funny as if it were the Soviet Union start the Star Wars project in 1980 in the hope of bankrupt the US), you are just in denial.

Europe sees Russia as threat largely because Russia is right next to it while China is far away.

did you read that off the back of Pakistani bus, this is why one of the Eastern European countries is asking its citizens not to buy Chinese products 😂 are they next to China or do the yanks shareable border with China?

Eastern Europeans are a special case, most of them worship the US much more than the west Europeans, because many of them hate/afraid of Russia and communism to an extend.

The problem the most powerful states in the EU are west european countries, and they are not interested in siding the US against China in a new cold war, the French actually say China is no threat to EU, the US is, especially after the backstabbing in Australian case.

Bloomberg talking through its a$$... there is a big difference between USSR and China. Soviet union was a declining economy and China is a rising. Today as we speak US is the USSR.
Perfect summary in a few words

They aren't. They don't see China as a threat. They just don't like China.

China is overall very strong .. no doubt about it..
But let's keep it rational here:

China Defense Budget Is $ 178 200 000 000
The US Defense Budget is $ 740 500 000 000

This is where the arms race come in..
PPP tells the more accurate story, and in PPP terms, the gap is much smaller.
I agree with you somehow.. but China is going full gear now.. so don't underestimate the US Industrial capabilities in case of war..

How will US fund a war as massive as a potential CHina war? US gov is BROKE....us living in US know this, but many people living outside US think the infinite dollars feds will print are actually real, cost free and eternal. its not. lol

These Eastern European countries just want to show the West that they hate China. Almost all of their largest trading partners are China.
