Just heard from cousin there were two blasts in a university in islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Two blasts occurred in Islamabad's Islamic University on Tuesday, police sources told DawnNews.



AFP adds: Police official Mohammad Afzal from the emergency response department said 'it was a bomb blast. It was inside the Islamic university building.'



He was referring the International Islamic University, on Islamabad's eastern flank.

ISLAMABAD: Two simultaneous explosions went off on the campus of the Islamic University in Islamabad, despite heightened security at schools all across the country, DawnNews reported.

Blasts took place at both the boys and girls campuses of the university, however it is not known yet how many students may have been in the vicinity or in the University at the time.

The attack came amidst heightened security across the country in the wake of terrorist threats against schools and universities.

Earlier in the day two bombs were defused at a girls school in Peshawar.

Islamabad: One woman was killed and 13 others sustained injuries in the twin blasts in Islamic University.

Geo news was showing for 3 hours ago that there was almost no police in Islamabad. Geo news tried to ask senior police officers who did not wanted to answer.

Police should be held responsible for these attack and put them in jail for not doing there job.

ISLAMABAD: Twin suicide blasts rocked the new campus of Islamic University, Islamabad killing one woman and injuring 13 others.

According to sources, first blast occurred in cafeteria of women campus and immediately after another blast took place in the Sharia Block.

A large number of ambulances and police officials have reached the spot immediately after the blast.

The injured have been transferred to PIMS hospital including 11 girls and two boys.

I heard all schools and colleges are closed, good proactive step taken by GOP.. else it could have been worse. however very sad news!

Another set of 2 bombs was diffused in Peshawar. This seems to be a synchronized series of blast. Atleast one could be avoided. I hope combing has started in areas surrounding educational institutes across Pakistan.

Two bombs found near Peshawar girls’ school
PESHAWAR: A Bomb Disposal Squad in Peshawar has defused two bombs planted separately near a Government Girls High School in the busy Landi Arbab area of the city, DawnNews reported.

The Assistant Inspector General of the Bomb Disposal Squad, Shafqat Malik, says the pressure cooker bombs were planted near the girls school in the busy city locality.

Local residents informed the police of the presence of a suspicions pressure cooker near the school, which contained a bomb weighing around 14Kg.

Later the police searched the area and recovered another 10Kg bomb near the same school.

Two girls schools in the area were closed down, and nearby schools were vacated by the police following the incident.

Landi Arbab is located on Kohat Road where a car bomb last week killed a child and injured many others.

Police are combing the area, and an investigation has been ordered.— DawnNews
