We know what is the condition of a poor Tamil mother in Sri-lanka.....

What has this world come to.....the Sri-lankans, who have rape* and killed millions of Tamil women and Children, the Chinese who don't hesitate to run tanks over protesters......are teaching us..

we don't have race based hospitals here, every one enjoying the facilities by government hospitals. If anyone is not satisfied facilities then they have plenty of private hospitals!

All these things happen because of poor implementation of the health schemes already present. Do you know there was a news sometime back that in Andhra Prasdesh a govt. call for specialist doctors did not even get a single application. Was there a lack of specialist? no it was because the govt pay scale is too low for them to think about going that way. A medical student in India spends so much in India for his education that it becomes impossible to pay of his loans from the paltry salary of a govt doc.

India is not very different from a feudal society``the government dont give a damn to the people, they are just subjects to them``thats why no matter how 'advanced' their economy they bragged about, India is no better than those poorest Afrian countries in terms of HDI, social equality and very basic human rights

Well..........how should i put this,A certain event in the subcontinent in 1971 showed what happens to certain group of citizens( who probably had worse healthcare than what Indians have now),of what they had to suffer when a certain military regime said : "Kill three million of them, and the rest will eat out of our hand"

Now we certainly wouldn't want our undefended people to suffer such a fate.

So India spends on both Health and defence.

In fact India spends a greater percentage of her GDP on healthcare than Pakistan

What you said can be one of the reasons.

I would like to add , we can learn from Bangladesh on this matter, i recall they have a compulsory rule that all medical graduates should spend certain period of time in rural areas and support the healthcare efforts there.
