Chinese fantasy movie-"Monster Hunt" has grossed over 170 million yuan on its first day of screening.

This makes it the highest-grossing Chinese film on opening day, breaking the record set by the 2014 film-"The Monkey King".

The movie was well-received among movie-goers and is rated 7.1 out of 10 at mtime.com, an IMDB-like site in China.

It tells a story of a young man who conceived a little monster king by mistake. He went through all kinds of difficulties to protect the little monster from evil hands.

Director Xu Chengyi also co-directed many "DreamWorks" animations, including "Shrek the Third".

He plans to shoot sequels for "Monster Hunt".

That's because his Chinese name is pronounced in Mandarin here. And Raman is just a foreign name not his Chinese name. His sur name is Hui but that's in Cantonese and not in Mandarin.

Ofcourse i'm correct , we have different spelling due to the different dialects. You don't expect the Americans would call him Hui Shing-Ngai, or 許誠毅
Same reason why Mainlanders will pronounce it in Mandarin. Same applies to Jacky Chan

Why not??? As if Raman Hui is easier??? I have worked/known plenty of people who use their Chinese names. like Jiăng, Yexin

The reason why many HongKong people have an English name or some other foreign name next to their surname is because it's easier to pronounce for English teachers or English people when HK was still a British colony. Foreigners can't pronounce our names correctly, Cantonese is very very difficult. The example you used is Mandarin, foreigners can pronounce it. Cantonese have more tones than Mandarin, ask CD to explain it to you.

Disney stole our trademark legend hero Mulan. That should have been produced by us in 3D. Another animated adaptation that I think can be successful for Chinese populace is Fengshen Bang. For Western audience, it may not due to the depth of the story. This is not trying to say they are stupid but they simply lack the taste to understand our cultural legend.

They aren't released here in mainstream movie theaters. You can probably find it in DVD form in a local Asian store.

Journey To The West is one of my favourite story from China. To me the best adaptation is TVB's 1996 & 1998. Later adaptations are just meh..
