This is called Darvaazeh Ghor'an, in Shiraz. When the city was smaller that was the main northerly entrance gate to the city. Cars used to actually pass under it. It is said there is a large Ghor'an being kept in the chamber on top of the Arch.

Very nice pictures!!! Keep them coming....! :D

Your wish is my command sister...

This is the tomb of Ferdausi the poet. It is located in Toos, near the Afghan border. He wrote the last version of Shahnameh in the 10th century. He tried to gather the Iranian history/mythology from the beginning up to the Arab attack. His work contains more than 200,000 verses, and it contains but a handful of Arabic words. It took him 30 years to do it. He says:

Bassi ranj bordam dar in saal si
Ajam zendeh kardam bedin Parsi

I suffered much in these years of thirty
I revived Iranians with this Persian

Anybody remember Ibn-e Sina (Avicenna)? He wrote the Canon of Medicine (Qanun-e Tebb). He lies in the western city of Hamedan.

Thank you brother. I wish the same for Pakistan. I've seen pictures of Pakistan as well and she looks majestic.

This is the resting place of the father of the Iranian nation, Cyrus the Great. It is in the south of Iran, near the city of Shiraz. He lived around 2600 years ago. He unified all the Iranian tribes under a single state and hence created the country of Iran. He did not force Iranians' religion on the others and allowed all the nations under his control to practice their own faiths and customs.

People sometimes go to his tomb and throw flowers on it during Nowruz.

Great pix guys!! Tehran looks like pretty well developed. Could you guys post from the other cities, small towns and the country side/ villages too. I am really impressed by these great pix. I hope Ian will soon find a balance between the reformist and the ruling party and carry on to the path of peace and development. Kudos Iran.

You should go if you have a chance brother. You'll be received with open arms. I remember reading a couple of accounts of Pakistanis visiting Iran and it seemed like they enjoyed their visit there.

Well, my cousins visit Iran every year. But I didn't get the chance yet.
