Chinese dams will regenerate our agriculture throughout the country because the retained summer water will be released in winter, our crop time. On the contrary, Tipai will destroy our Sylhet Haor Basin fish production in summer by withholding a part of water in the upstream side, and will also destroy crop agriculture in winter by releasing that summer water. Tipai will create shortage of water in summer and excessive water in winter. It will be a two-edged sword. Sylhet region will be destroyed by this duplicity of building Tipai by India.
Both the dams built by China and India are upstream to BD. How can one hurt BD and one not? WTF kind of logic is this?
You would rather believe the Chinese(because they are your mamus?) who won't even share any data or design details but refuse to believe India which does. Some great IQ you have there buddy.
Besides the two new proposed dams in BD are run-of-river dams, they store very less water, if at all they do. Besides GOI offered BD all the data it has and even new studies.
But if you choose to close your eyes and ears and shout la-la-la-la, no one can help you. Not only that, once India sees no point in trying to reason with BD, then there will be no efforts at consensus. Only unilateral dam building. This is not a threat, but only a sane reasoned step one takes and I am sure the sane people in BD will understand.
How it is possible for Meghalaya to allay fears in BD when the hydrographic data show BD has very good reasons to fear the dam constructions? It was only Tipai before, but it is three now.
Which hydrographic data?!! There are papers written by BD experts which show that the water flow in BD's rivers have been decreasing decade over decade even without Indian dams.
I can use no other word than moron(and you will see why the usage is not inappropriate) for referring to Tipaimukh dam. What is purely a flood control and hydroelectric dam can be a bogeyman only in BD. Apparently Bangladeshis(or rather their Jamatis) are
fine with perishing in the floods themselves rather than let India generate 1 MW of power and protect its own people from the floods. And they talk of the ecological effects ignoring the fact that the downstream areas of the dam in India(160 miles from the dam till BD's borders according to the article below) face worse effects. So according to your Jamatis, India wishes on its own people what it wishes on BD's people(death and destruction).
Tipaimukh: A plea for rational and scientific discussion
Can you prove that India building dam controlling and cutting BD water flow will be beneficial for Bangladesh?did your gov share any plan and data which will prove beyond reasonable doubt to BD that these damn dams will not harm us in the long run?
India as the upstream country can choose to build any dam it wants as long as it complies with international norms and bilateral treaties. India believes the dams are in conformance. Now if BD is worried, then it is GOB's duty to raise alarm and ask for data. That happened and India obliged. So what is the problem here?
Unless the sane people in BD agree publicly that there is sense in India's projects and its efforts to pacify BD, there is no point in this exercise of joint studies. The undercurrents of India hatred will not subside with this attitude from the experts of BD.
Meghalaya government agreed to defer the projects until BD is happy. I wonder why. They should clash with the Centre like WB did and maintain pressure on the other side. Otherwise the Centre will keep offering fruitless sops to BD like a stake in these two projects. WTF?! If BD needs electricity for their development, then let them build their own dams. Then they will realize there will always be a tradeoff between ecology and development. At least India should get some agreement for transit as a reciprocal offer from BD. Otherwise it just seems that BD is freeloading off India.
