Bayraktar HALE UCAV project

If you want to develop a long range combat UAV, there are 2 key components that will make the project much more feasible if available: A proper engine supply (either domestic or imported) and using Satcom. Other issues like air to ground missiles etc are nothing that can not be achieved.
I wonder what engine would be used for such project, is there any program to develop engines in this scale? I assume it uses jet engines.
SATCOM is already being used in ANKA-S it won't be a problem.

About engine....KaleAero has developed a Turbo-Jet engine for some missile. If they were not developing a TurboFan engine in secret, a domestic Turbofan engine couldn't be produced in 3 years. We have to look abroad for it....i think, we can get engine from our NATO partners but in that case forget about export.

The question in my mind is "Can Baykari produce such a UAV like X-47B with it's current capabilities"...yes, they have created wonders with UAVs....but it still such a hard project (Cabatlı says it's going to able to engage in air to air combat).....and in 3 years.....i dunno. :undecided:

I assume it uses jet engines.

Turkish Sat-com is already active but with limited capability
( in addition to that some data services are leased from foreign providers),
no own indigenous GPS system comparable to alternative to US GPS or Russian GLONAS is available.
Full capacity Sat-Com and indigenous GPS system will be available if all our planned systems will be in the orbit within 15-20 years. That means that we need an own SLV like Iran , India or N.Korea.
Otherwise plan can be delayed cause of so called "technical failures" of Vega's or else.
That means a X-47 B "clone" could be ready within next 20-25 years.

X-47 has a turbofan and is subsonic.
In the next 10-15 years the global powers will have UAV' s with scram-jet,
they are already testing.

Our mod posted Turkey's vision. Thank you

Perfect 2035 they will be possibly operational, but there is even not a design available or published

That is not so difficult, but could boost interest and enthusiasm of investors.

Now whats already or will be soon available and a scientific design PDF,

ISIS

isis.jpg

To generate power for the systems on board, the outer skin of the airship will be coated with solar cells, absorbing the sun light as well as light reflected from the earth surface, thus minimizing power drainage at night. The airship program is currently funded by DARPA and could be matured for deployment toward the end of the next decade (around 2018).

Global Hawk may be dominating the high altitudes today, but in the near future, it will have to share those heights with more unmanned platforms. One such system is the Integrated Sensor Is Structure (ISIS) developed by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. ISIS will provide a new model for persistent, autonomous ISR platform. Utilizing a stationary stratospheric airship, ISIS will establish a position on the 'high ground' at an altitude of 70,000 ft. This airship will be deployed for long missions, staying in position for one, five or even ten years. It will provide a persistent early warning sensor able to detect cruise missiles at distances of 600 kilometers or dismounted enemy combatants at a range of 300 km.

FALCON

falcon.jpg

Flying at the edge of space in the high stratosphere, a future unmanned aircraft could one day carry weapons or other payloads anywhere in the world within few hours, or deploy cargo to lower space orbit, responding within minutes to urgent mission requirements. These high flyers will be designed to carry our fast strikes deep into enemy territory, anywhere in the world. Such a project known as FALCON is pursued by DARPA and the US Air Force. Lockheed Marin, the system's developer is planning to fly the first FALCON demonstrator by the end of 2018, and is preparing to have such platform operational in about 10 years.

A similar platform expected to be demonstrated around that time is the X-51 WaveRider, developed by Boeing. This vehicle will demonstrate capabilities similar to the FALCON, as Boeing aims to compete with Lockheed Martin to fulfill the future USAF requirement for global strike with the hypersonic atmospheric vehicles. The waveRider will integrate a scramjet engine developed by Pratt & Whitney, a boost rocket motor derived from an ATACMS missile matched with an airframe built by Boeing. It will demonstrate acceleration from boost (Mach 4.5+) to Mach 6 -7 cruise.

you will have customers lining up for this one

Would be a quantum leap 3.5 ton takeoff and 1 ton payload.

(Or a type fault like some journalists claimed PKK has UAVswith 1 ton payload.)

-3,5t take off weight
-1t payload
-40000ft operational Altitude
-5h Endurance
-Turbo-fan propulsion
-0,8M speed
-SATCOM communication

-Development: 3 years

It is not about trust, but do you have a source?

Wouldn't 5H endurance be really short? Or is that without air-refueling?

With much speed (ca Mach1 ) and heavy weaponize, it could be irrelevant.

it could be

Could it be Realistic with 1 ton payload almost mach 1 and only 3.5 tons take off weight ?
Could it be a combat drone ?
X-47 empty weight is almost 7 tons and it can carry only 2 ton weapon load.

I attached Onera pdf to compare,
it has two PW turbofans 7 ton weight and 700 kg surveillance sensor payload.
Ok it is an patrol drone,
it is designed to operate almost in 70.000 feet thin air and combusts less fuel , optimized for superior patrol mission.

Its all fun and all, but what is the source bro. Similar news was on other forums too, but i believe the person said 'i am the source'. How credible is this?

Only Cabatlı is an exception in this regard. I said a similar thing When he told about indigenous air to air missile years ago. Then years later we saw picture of the missile and confirmation of it's existence by a general.

If Cabatlı says so, you can trust him with your eyes closed.

We can try to add some figures:

Take off weight 3.5 tons incl. 1 ton weapon load.

The UAV mustn't exceed 2.5 tons. Now waiting your suggestions, pls.

One turbofan comparable to FJ44-1AP = 250 kg
Fuel = ?
Platform with advanced composite material ( like KAAN maritime crafts) = ?
Landing Gear = ?
Sensors, wiring, mission electronics = ?

Range of comparable business jet with that engine is indeed 2100 NM (Nextant).
The above engine is said to be extreme quiet, high trust and low fuel consume.

At which galaxy are you living?
Clearly not the one you live in lol. What's up?

Of course i do (i wasn't talking about cabatli; i was talking about people from other forums as i had seen similar info there), but for random people reading the forum it might not be satisfying enough. Plus its not something hard to believe, because Bayraktar is a successful company, so it is clear that they will try to produce more complex hardware.

but for random people

I want repeat of course there is no mistrust.

That's also my point of view. @ozi2000
member posted also a picture.
But my question ? Is it from BAYKAR webpage or an own design as our friend Cinar Cakmak is skilled to do.

The weight / payload ratio has to be discussed.
TB 2 from Baykarmakina has a weight of 650 kg and a payload capacity of 55 kg.
Assume + 4 Roketsan mini smart ammo = 100kg.
That means it can lift almost 20% of his own weight.
Now my question. Can a drone lift almost 50% of its weight ?

We should make a brainstorm and compare existent systems and planned systems.

Thats the reason why we are participating in forum brainstorming and exchange of information.

Kale turbofan engine seems to be in the mentioned FJ44-1AP class.

The numbers seem realistic. Here's a plane with similar performance - 4000kg MTOW, 2200kg empty weight, 40k feet ceiling - Scaled Composites Triumph - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you read the slogans on the poster there are very amateur sentences

Yakin hedef destegi/ thats a no go and not existent terminology

Stratejik Taaruz?????

Brother I would be the happiest man on earth if it would be.

But you quoted a business jet with exact the same engines I mentioned.
But it had 2 engines and was only a prototype from 90s.
