Bangladeshi farmers to plough barren African lands

This is not about exporting labor to african country but to produce food over there and bring it to bangladesh. It will reduce high food importing bill for bangladesh. Here the lease is for 99 years. So for a long period of time bd is going to get the benefit of this. As far as I know bd is also trying to sign such deal with burma as they have a lots of unused land which bd can use for cultivation n can give myaanmar government a certain percentage of it in terms of money ... just like in the case of tanzania. May be 10% profit which has been talked here will be the market value of the products that will be cultivated there. But still I believe it will be cheaper then the international market rate even after including shipping, and labor and associated costs.

Yes. It is a good idea. Good luck.
I think using local labour would have been cost effective, but then it must have been taken into equation.

Rather we have our own workers specially for Farming. Ofcourse there will be local labour but in african countries there is shortage of that kind. And the land they going to get may be 100 miles away from any locality.

Its a great idea . if we succeeded in this venture we should encourage our private company to try the same path . and latter other country like Australia Argentina this kind of country who have a large barren land should come under production this not just only solve our problem but it can open away to solve the food crisis

Now a days I am busy for my final thesis writing and presentation. So i wont be here much. But request to bd members do not feed the bharti trolls those who are here as a paid agent for this purpose. Do not go in to discussion with them as nothing is gonna please these bhartis.
This has nothing to do with India, bharti trolls? dude your starting the trolling what is wrong with you.

If BD will get success then BD may face business challenges in future in abroad (we will have to be aware of those business threats), and may be other countries will follow this idea one day. We can be an icon in taking such appreciable venture. It is the best thing that we will do in abroad in my eyes. This is really creative and productive. I think food crisis will be our biggest threat in future if we do not take proper steps soon.

PS:Have you got the sms in your cell from the govt: "Duity sontan hole valo, akti hole besi valo"? haha

Good infinitive. Some of our guys already done wonder in Saudi. They have transformed some desert area in to greenery. It should be rather easy for our farmers to cultivate in Africa.

Many countries already do it. Africa can be a great food basket for the world.

Lots of land + low population + foreign technology = great farming.

India,China ,Saudi Arabia and some other countries are already present in this business. Now Bangladesh joins too.The only problem is they have no policy to control the flow of the products. The companies having farms there can sell entire amount of the products outside, where the prices will be higher. That means the African countries are having little benefit out of it.There should be a policy to divert a fixed percentage of the net product to the home market, even if that is at a lower cost.

Sadly this ^^^

Price manipulation of basic foods in Bangladesh markets are not uncommon. Mostly by middlemen. This issue needs to be resolved within Bangladesh and act with law.

Is this an indirect way to inform the world that you are educated since you did require some such certification given the poor quality of posts so far.

And as ProsperBD has said, you are the one who could be titled the Master Troll because it is your rather juvenile mode which is leading the way to derail. I am sure you are waiting for the time when you would pounce up and start a matam e janaza for yourself ;) !!

As Zabanya has stated, the farming in Africa is an old hat and as nForce has said many are in the same game. China, BTW, is in the big league in case you did not know.

Now, what is this thesis you are on - Trolling?

We have seen your Presentation here.

Thank you.

That apart, it is a good thing that Bangladesh is ensuring that there is a food surplus by farming in Africa.

It is a good start.

Asia has a high density of population and water is becoming a bone of contention.

Therefore, it is ideal to move out to farm so that the countries are not burdened with dwindling farmlands and water resource.

nForce,

I think that there are provisos that ensure that the produce is ploughed back to the mother country.

In fact, I had queried if some of the produce would be sold to the locals. There were farms being set up in Somalia and Ethiopia. It is well known that owing to wrong agricultural modes they (Somalia and Ethiopia) were repeatedly visited by famine. Therefore, in fitness of things, even if the country was paid for their land usage, it would be appropriate as human beings to share a part of the produce with the locals, as also teach them modern agricultural techniques.

Do you always have to do this, you indian troll.

Hope they don't get infected. If some farmer starts looking for
cheap fun, then thats mayday for BD. On a side note the concept
is quite effective if channeled properly without law benders.

I fully agree with you. The grains should be transfered only after meeting the local need. I believe they have laws regarding to this effect in the host country. But again the grains must be sold to locals through free market concept. There should not be any price regulations.

Proper planning between demand and supply should solve all those problems as there are abundant of land an there should not be any scarcity of investors specially from Asia if allowed.

For this Bangladeshi company, they seems to produce for local market as well. They will sell corn to the Tanzanians, Rice and Maize for Bangladeshis. I hope they should be able to export to third countries if both demands are met specially the Tanzanian demand.
