Bangladesh is getting closer to Eurofighter Typhoon

Dude,

Just because you can buy 3 times as many JF-17 Block 17s as EFT latest Tranche planes does not mean you can operate 3 times as many for the same cost.

You will still need the same number of pilots to train whether you have EFTs or JF-17s.
EFT engines will not need to be replaced after 10-15 years like the Russian RD-93MA in the JF-17 Block 3 will be.
Chinese weapons like PL-15 definitely won't be 1/3rd the cost of European ones. Maybe 1/3rd to 1/2 cheaper.

Now consider this scenario:

2 EFTs armed with 14 Meteors each in "beast mode" against 6 JF-17s with 4 PL-15s each.

Both plane types have AWACs support and know of each other's presence at the same time. EFTs with their canard-design and more T/W ratio use their high-altitude aerodynamic advantage to get high and fast first and launch 8 Meteors simultaneously before JF-17s can get into launch positions.

Just think a little about how many of those 6 JF-17s would survive a first attack by just 2 EFTs.
Detection range and EW systems need to be taken into consideration
This video uses scientific formula to calculate range of detection of various fighters with KlJ-7a of BLK-3, pay attention to the detection range of Rafale with Klj-7a. (7:53) ( about 118Km )

Typhoon's radar is bigger than KlJ-7A and naturally has a greater range of detection.

I really cannot remember if BD and Myanmar every had a serious confrontation in the past
Naf River war we had with Burma in 2000s. (Guy in the interview is the same general who was DG when we had Boraibari skirmish with India) . Apologies if you do not understand Bangla (maybe i can summarise )

Here's the Boraibari Skirmish with India

I am giving the JF-17 the benefit of the doubt by saying that its radar/avionics and missiles are on the same level as EFT. It is obvious that the EFT will have the edge as UK is a joint leader in military aerospace tech with USA.

A fight between EFT and JF-17 would be like a very fast boxer(EFT canard-delta design and powerful twin engines) that can punch quickly(EFT missile load) against a slow boxer that punches slow.

There would be no fair competition as EFT would, with everything else being equal(support assets, tactics and pilot skill), win almost every time.

In terms of air-to-air capability of latest versions of some fighters.

EFT > Rafale > Gripen E ~ JF-17 Block 3

I would still think the Gripen E has the edge over JF-17 Block 3 due to its more refined radar/avionics/missiles and of course its GE engine is streets ahead of the Russian RD-93MA.

Myanmar hasn't even acquired that variant of the aircraft
I doubt Imraan Khan Govt would sell it to them After what happened to Rohingya. Burma has literally been on fire for 72 years. LEt them implode.
They mainly use their air force to attack civilians
Our mistake is that we were slow to react to our defence needs.

Back to the typhoon---> It will be expensive to maintain (if we buy it), hope they adjust the maintenance budget of BAF for this. I hope a deal is signed with an option to procure more on 50th anniversary of V-day or BAF airshow 2022
We need well trained airmen and technicians and I hope the RAF (the best in Europe) can help us in this regard. No alternative to this.
after all '' A country without a strong Air Force is at the mercy of any aggressor '' It must be an efficient Air Force, Second To None.”

Bangladesh cannot purchase Chinese combat aircraft
1. rile up India
2. rile up USA - all your textile exports goes to Europe/USA. But all the imports go to China

We bought submarines from china which is a system that caused more concern in India than anything else.
Guess who's building the submarine base in BD ? China

Chinese jets like J-10C will be considered for F-7 replacement

The subs are 2nd rate versions

These are training boats. The sub base being built for 2 billion usd will be able to house 6 subs. The navy spokesperson explicitly said the subs are for training and submarine capabilities will be expanded in the BoB.
if the chinese are building the sub base , it is logical that the next subs will be from china

subs are lot different from combat aircraft

Bangladesh is not a regional power nor does it intend to be. So it will always have to play a balancing act to keep all parties happy.

On one hand, Bangladesh buys subs from China, allows them to invest in building civilian and defense infrastructure in BD. Then, on the other hand, Bangladesh invites Indian PM to Dhaka for 50 years of Independence celebration and holds joint military counter-terror exercises with India.

Buying a European fighter jet is part of the balancing game. BD recently snubbed the US proposal for defense cooperation to avoid straining relations with China.

It's all about balance.

We cannot blame anyone for being very pessimistic but some things are finally starting to happen as regards the BAF after more than 20 years when it finally again upgraded its fighter inventory. 8 mig-29s were brought in 1999.

4 of the 8 Mig-29s have been upgrade with new radar and avionics and the other 4 will be very soon.

BD has the 4 billion dollars to spend that will be required to buy those 16 EFTS and both government and BAF have mentioned the need for new fighters. Yes let us be pessimistic but there is every chance that EFT will be flying in BAF by the mid-2020s.

The co-op between Bangladesh and chinese military stretches back from 1980's.

Ganga land and Uncle sam can throw what ever they want. Nothing will change

Bd may buy western system here and there, but end of the day. China was, is and will be in the most important partner for BD in economics, military or diplomacy.

USA is on the way out. Who cares about uncle sam?
