BAF Chief wants high quality combat Aircraft

Basis of this thread after reading few pages:
Bangladesh is at the center of the universe.
Very strategically located region on Earth.
Chinese support of Burmese military (who BD says are responsyfor refugee crisis) as they need Burma to access BoB during war with US. (Why the hell have they "loaned" 60B to Pakistan to build Cpec then?)

And imagine India as an enemy when Burmese military is actually making fun of BD military with Chinese actively supporting them.

And throw in a random Pakistani who will say how China is the best buddy for both without giving proof or facts.

Tada. The script never changes.

Reading compression is not your strength it seems.

Pakistani support for the Afghan rebels and Taliban lasted from 1979 to present

Iran is no angel. Who wants Afghanistan when Iraq and Syria are on the menu

why shouldnt Pakistan support Taliban? they are going to be our neighbours forever, not the Americans. USA had no interest in helping Pakistan deal with the Afghans after the Soviet War ended (before they turned into the Taliban), so the US showed that it isnt a long term, reliable partner. they are a bunch of selfish pricks, and we should actively sabotage them.

It was only my vote, and it's for China.

I said we can't remain neutral , so we have to join either western block or Chinese block.

What's your answer for the question?

Is it possible for us to remain neutral?
We will be the collateral damage no one cares about. We will either get used or heavily hurt
Lol.... We ruled bangal for 24 years, we know what you people are.... Taking about Typhoon ?.... You will choose hindus shit over this !
Eat your bhikari grass.. can’t even get kashmir... 6 foot Pathan my ***

This is why I said long term. Diversification is already at play with Vietnam almost catching up.
Setting up garments factories is not rocket science. Bangladesh can be completely sidelined in 10 years time.
Name one small or medium sized economy which is doing well despite joining an anti-US camp?
China's non-interference policy means they will never come and bail you out militarily.
Best to remain neutral and let the major powers compete for stakes.
USA is slowly retiering from world stage. It will no longer play any role in world stage. Future is china

I have no problem with Pakistan supporting the Taliban. you live with the consequences

the consequences will be peace in Afghanistan, and peace between Afghanistan and Pakistan, just like when Taliban ruled Afghanistan before the Americans showed up. once the cowboys and their foolish ideas leave Afghanistan, all will be well.

As long as the Taliban do not shelter terrorists

Gripen all day every day.

Dispersal being key.

That is of course if Bangladesh is serious about its defense needs.

If Bangladesh IS an Indian vassal as alot of people here say, then yea you WILL see Tejas, Mig-35 or a Flanker variant in time.

Another excellent point made about the Gripen is it's dispersal capability, as it can be launched from straight sections of roads of no more than 5-600 metres.

In fact you can easily set up the whole maintenance infrastructure on the side of a road as demonstrated by the Swedes and refuel, rearm and maintain the aircraft on the road.

If it is any consolation, I think that Bangladesh is not in as big of a geopolitical pickle as the people here think. True, Myanmar is unfriendly, but I don’t see all out war breaking out in the near future since internal strife is still a major concern in the country, now exacerbated by a new coup attempt. India is not interested in militarily conquering Bangladesh and is more interested in trade and investment. It will be foolish for them to open a new front after antagonizing China and Nepal.

Without understanding the politics of Bangladesh, I think that economic development is probably more important than military acquisitions at this stage of the country’s development. China had to make do with using J-6 (MiG-19) and J-7 during the 1980s when there were much higher military pressure from the Soviet Union. But Deng still demanded that the military should wait and built up the economy and industry.

Your post is very much likely the case.

Thus, the lack of urgency we are seeing.

Still, a credible defense is a matter of national security if for nothing else but deterence.

For example, I doubt Myanmar would have done what they did in 2017 if there was a credible Bangladeshi military threat present as a response.

I know this is probably overkill, but Bangladesh would look good with a squadron of F 35’s

(SIGH) That would've been awesome if BAF jumped to fifth generation fighter and formed backbone with F-35B. 😌 BN hopes to operate LHD in future so i was dreaming about having some F-35B on that LHD in another thread on 6th Defence Port Turkey few months ago.

The question is;
Does Bangladesh have the expertise and infra-structure to build an aircraft?

We are just starting. We have BAC, also recently launched first aerospace university BSMRAAU which signed MoU with Airbus few months ago. Permanent campus will be in Lalmonirhat where govt plans establish an aerospace industry to manufacture aircraft. BAF-Al Salam intend to open a MRO facility there. BAF also obtained sub-sonic wind tunnel from UK.

Also saw in a annual report that navy manufactured UAV for some radar testing as it has it's own R&D section. A BAF official said that we are already working on trainer and UAV projects. So i think BAF/BAC has ability to manufacture UAV and basic trainer at least for now. Except K-8W, Yak-130 and Mig-29 BAF has MRO for every aircraft and MRO facility for PT-6 and Bell-212 are the oldest.
