Avalanche traps about 150 Pakistani soldiers

All the jawans belonged to the same unit. 6 NLI. :frown:

.
gps doesnt work when you ae burried under a few thousand toms of ice.
Avalanche floatation devices?
We want our soldiers to take bullets and shitty postings for us, but we are such cheapos to not even afford decent protection devices?
I hope most survive.

.
Usually a Distress Beacon is given to soldier when deployed on the front , which helps to locate the soldiers if something like this happens . however in this case the Avalanche hit the Rear HQ while most of the soldiers were sleeping . which made the matters worse. at day time some measures may have been taken but the timing of Avalanche was very bad.

Currently only bodies are found , but lets keep the fingers crossed & Pray for the safety of the soldiers Trapped there .

Fox.

How are the buildings over there, are they strong enough to offer protection to the trapped and would stay still or tear away due to the storms?
What's your point of view and knowledge?

.
It was around 6 in the morning according to ISPR, so the men were caught unaware.

And the DG ISPR said that this was very unusual, as avalanches don't happen at this time of the year. And this was not avalanche season.

Avalanche, of the kind that has happened, tears everything in it's path, no building can stand in it's path.

But we can pray, and miracles do happen.

Sir! I guess the buildings can't hold against thousands of tons of snow striking them, its almost impossible to survive....But still Allah SBWT can do miracles if he wanna save somebody.....
I wish and hope from Allah SBWT that our friend Xeric trapped there will be fine and will survive through this incident.......Insha-Allah

I do believe in miracles too.

With impact further away, shorter and wider buildings with deep roots, they can possibly survive.
But if the buildings/camps got washed away, this would make the minimal chances of survival even more scarce.

The buildings there are designed to Withstand cold & Avalanches to some extent, they are usually made of single bricks & sometime double bricks & windows are very few in number on the rear side of mountain , however Every soldier stationed at siachin goes through a special course of Survival Tactics which helps them survive extraordinary situations.

However in this case the size of Avalanche was too big an avalanche of 1 square km destroys/Buries everything in its way , We cannot get the heavy machinery up to dig out the snow and manually it takes ages ,

A Normal person in this case have around 3 hours of air & a Trained solder around 5-6 (Average) , if you are rescued in that time span then you have chances of surviving the aftermath . the more time it take the slim chances of survival there are .

It has been up until now 18 hrs since the avalanche hit .

.
Why Pakistan Army in the trap didn't carry GPS signal communication??

I think they carry some sort of beacon While moving out but here the case was different. As per tv reports snow is about 80 foot thick which further multiplies the difficulty level.

That could have given some hope initially.
However in this case the size of Avalanche was too big an avalanche of 1 square km destroys/Buries everything in its way , We cannot get the heavy machinery up to dig out the snow and manually it takes ages ,
The machinery was sent from Rawalpinid/Taxila but is still halted due to the conditions of the avalanche as well as the current weather. Only light helicopters like Alloutte are possible right now, the Mi-17's thrust could worsen the conditions.

Warm condolences to the families of the heroic martyrs and to the brotherly people of Pakistan.
May Allah accept them as martyrs...

Verily to Allah, belongs what He took and to Him belongs what He gave, and everything with Him has an appointed time…and then he rordered for her to be patient and hope for Allah’s reward.

does pakistan has sufficient amount of high altitude choppers?what models do they operate?
light tracked snow movers can be handy in this situation.
