Update Avalanche Clearance at Gayari Sector Siachen

A deliberate and consistent rescue operation is under way at Gayari, to search the missing soldiers. ....................

Still calling it a "rescue" operation? Really?

ISPR is actually very approachable.

e-mail them; maybe it's just a language barrier thing

do understand that alive or dead, the work will continue.......families want their dead back, and the comrades of those martyred will see to it that this is what happens....even if they have to bring down the damn area to find them

Of course, the operation must go on, no matter what it is called, but at least naming it properly does not give false hopes to anyone and befits proper standards. I am sure ISPR has many "representatives" on this forum already. ;)

Still they have not been able to reach the soldiers ?

Will it not be a good idea to just fence off the area and declare a war memorial or something of that sort.

Rawalpindi - May 22, 2012:
Update Avalanche Clearance Efforts at Gayari Sector - Siachen

Clearance efforts continued round the clock at Gayari Sector. Simultaneous efforts are being undertaken to tackle effects of water on the site in the shape of pondages, cutting and crevasses. The water has started draining and has resulted into quick reduction of water level in the lake to the tune of 27 feet.
Excavation work has resumed its full pace despite difficulties posed by seepage of the water at the sites, hazards of crevasses / cutting by water and sinking effects for plant equipment.
Meanwhile during physical inspection of the area, some equipment was found.

There seems to be a net on the river.

Possibly to recover some things if they flow under the water perhaps?
