Audi India sold 11,912 cars in 2015 alone, the figure for 2014 was 10,851.



The Audi India plant currently has a one shift capacity of 14000 cars per year, this I guess can be doubled to 28000 per year if operated in double shifts!

Not exactly cheap, but they have become more affordable with local assembly.

Maruti suzuki sold 1.4 Million cars in 2015.

Audi AG To Start Feasibility Study For Assembling Cars In Pakistan
25th April 2016,

The German premium automobile brand Audi AG has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sindh Board of Investment (BoI) in order to start a feasibility study to assemble their vehicles in Sindh, Pakistan.

Under the memorandum of understanding or MoU, the German carmaker will explore various aspects of investing in Pakistan including merits and demerits. Audi will study things like legal requirements, logistical needs, federal trade policies of Pakistan, and general economic feasibility of establishing an assembly plant in Pakistan. The decision of investment will be taken after accessing all the advantages and shortcomings. Our new auto policy can play an import role in helping Audi to come up to a conclusion. If Audi decides in favor of launching an assembly plant in Pakistan, the current authorized importer of Audi vehicles in Pakistan, Premier Systems, will be assigned the task to make and start the plant.

Ms. Naheed Memon of Sindh Board of Investment and Mr. Martin Birkner of AUDI AG signed the MoU. Also, Mr. Arshad Raza of Premier Systems was also present at the signing event along with the Consul-General of Germany in Karachi, Mr. Rainer Schmiedchen.

Audi Pakistan has worked hard to make a name in Pakistani car market. And this signing of the memorandum is a big news, not only for Pakistan’s auto sector but also for the country on the whole. One can argue that it is just about a feasibility report that can come out against the prospect of the local assembly, but a step like this has opened a door for other auto assemblers to consider Pakistan as their next potential investing grounds. We hope that everything comes out right, and Audi decides in favor of a local assembly plant.

We need to break this teen dabba monopoly of Pak Suzuki...if they want to take the manufacturing line to Iran...we should help them with free freight...soon they will learn that Iran home grown vehicles like Samand are far superior to teen dabba suzuki and they will find no appreciation in Persian market.

It's bluster, nothing more. Suzuki aren't going to abandon Pakistan anytime soon, as Pakistani auto-market is still far from saturating. Over a hundred million potential sales within the next decade, they'd be stupid to piss off Pakistan.

Not to mention that Pakistan is one of their bigger and more profitable markets currently, with massive room for growth due to brand name recognition within Pakistan.

People here jumping up and down as f everyone can afford an Audi in Pakistan.

Audi is among the top luxury brands in the world. How many units can they manufacture in Pakistan? It would not be feasible I guess to build such an expensive car there. And I at least dont want to see a cheaply built Audi at the quality of Suzuki but price of an Audi!

Pakistan needs an auto industry that builds cars people can afford. We need small fuel efficient cars there. The types that sell in large quantities when imported used. The reason no one builds small cars when there is such a need is market size and profit margin. Smaller cars have smaller profit margins. So the assembly mafia only assembles big cars like Civic and Corolla as profit margin is bigger per unit.
