Asad Umar: Malaysia interested in procuring JF-17 Thunder from Pakistan

Skodas and Lamborghinis are both single engine light weight cars.

Hi,

The Cardinal should stop believing in his own ----. Even though I know that Saab builds a high quality product---but the difference stated here is way too exaggerated---.

Is the AR15 more advanced than the AK47---. Technically yes---better machining---better tolerances---but the AK beats the AR hands down when it comes down to function and survivability---.

Grippen has US components mainly the engine and many other subsystems perhaps are from other EU countries which makes it prone to politically motivated sanctions in case if customer's relations worsen with any of these countries while PAF has total ownership of JF17 to sell and export to any country it wants.

For this order, IK won't need to visit Malaysia again ... PAF can take over from here :)

Block-III will offer a highly potent platform at mouth watering price so a lot more orders will come.

Block 3 still on the paper, we have not seen an actual drawing of it. Chinese need to build the mock-up, it has to go through testing phase and then it will go in production.
I think It won’t go into production until 2021-2022.
For export, Price tag for block 3 will be between 55 to 65 million.

It will be premature to compare block 3 to Gripen, F-16 and other 4 generation fighter.
1) it will depends if Chinese will make any structural changes in block 3 design.
2) how much it will weight, How much composite material is going to have.
3) Avionics, radar, EW suite, missiles and other gadgets.

cause Persian is very picky.

the biggest advantage of Jf 17 is its cost effective.
exactly .. further it is less sanctions prone which mean delivery of parts would be smooth so these birds will spend more time in the air than in hangers

I disagree. Iran is India's mate. If JF-17s are sold to Iran, how will you stop Iran from showing JF-17 to india? Thus, Iran should stay with its best friend india and buy Tejas. Iran is not a country to be believed.

With that line of reasoning, India is both American, Israeli and Saudi friend. Why would Iranians trust the Indians not to disclose anything they learn to their enemies.
This line of thinking is utterly without merit.

Which is fine, but until a deal is signed, it's worthless. How many times have the Saudis said they'll buy the AK-2 tank, but kept backing out?

Once again, a signed deal is the only indication that something will occur.

Im sure the Saudis have said they will buy AK-2 tank exactly 0 times.

Might have something to do with the fact that there is no such tank in existence coupled with Pakistanis who keep coming up with their wishes and presenting them as truths and other that actually believe them.

Sorry have to disagree again since your logic doesn't add up. Since the Iranian revolution, Iran has never been Pakistan's friend. There is no friendship. In fact Iran allowed RAW to work from its territory against Pakistan. Iran and Pakistan need to a lot of work before even basic level of TRUST can be built between them. When you do not have friendship with someone, why would you compromise on your national security by selling them your crown jewel and make them stronger???

It still does not loose much because its avionics + sensor suite + maneuverability + firepower, continue to be a virtually unparalleled combo (much ahead than anything out there).

VLO is a big characteristic (a design philosophy in itself). However, F-22A Raptor is a MONSTER in BEAST MODE as well, and it will take me a while to explain how.

In beast mode it will have run for its money against Su-35 and Su-57 in one on one scenario because they are beasts too without stealth.

To say that they are equivalent because they are both lightweight single engine fighters is an empty phrase.
Here is another lightweight single engine fighter.
Does that make it equivalent with the JF-17?

Hi,

They are not equal for now---and your post is getting silly with that example. And neither is there as much of a difference as you might want to show---.

A very difficult pill to swallow for Saab to see someone looking to buy the Grippen just a few years ago have their own JV for a similar item---.

I doubt SAAB will lose any business to the JF-17, so it is nothing for SAAB to lose sleep over.

Block-3 is 4.5 generation, with some technologies of 5th generation.
Technically block-3 would be better than F-16 and Gripen but in light weight category.

Your doubt is wrong.
