Army ready to forgo Military Hardware for Economic Boost

dear friend, i have noticed even in this forum that the majority of pakistanis cursed the US just not too long before and now acting like as though US is your great friend..

everyone have right to speak. when US INDIA nuclear deal was happening you remember the situation in India.

can any pakistanis answer me if the COAS was so successful in his strategies, then why he has to take U turn overnight?

What U-Turn is this? Its your pathetic thinking not Kiyanis U Turn. But still you want an answer why he put Economy above weapons. Its because economy is a factor to win WOT. But you wont understand until you comeout of your dreamworld. And by the way even putting economy above weapons we got 14 more F 16.

And by the way army always put country first. Its not first time. GHQ was suppose to move from Rawalpindi to Isb. To much secure place. Army didn't moved it to save money and to help build the economy.

But we cant convince you after all that chacha rahman kind of news you watch.

the US is playing its card great and i wonder how easily your leadership can be deceived, now the pakistanis are getting entangled in another serious trouble in afganistan in the name of reconcilation...

We can deal with that. US leaves or stay its our headache.

the idea of reconcilation is good for the US to get out of afg but definitely not for the pakistan, even if you feel you will get strategic depth there... dont you guys remember how the ghost created by ISI and CIA haunted you. for a secure pakistan, it should keep its hands out of afg as much as possible..

Reconciliation is good for US and bad for Pakistan. But what about india and that hell lot of so called "humanitarian help". US start crying on everything and raises issues. why dont we see any reaction on reconciliation with Taliban the people who attack indian embassy 3 times. (was it three or four)

i definitely feels something fishy here...why the army suddenly changed its traditional approach of military first and the rest are next(economy)..

even your army has gone with its own wish list of hardwares to demand from the US.. and also your civilian government went with its own list of many power and infrastructure projects close to $ 600m...

the obvious question what the US must have asked your COAS is that on the one hand pakistan is demanding aid for power projects and on the other you want modern hardwares which will not have any use against talibans, from where pakistan has got enough $$$ to purchase those new hardwares..if at all you have the money purchase the hardwares woth billions, why dont you guys spend that on your power projects?

one thing is sure, your COAS has had very very bad time in the US...allah knows what kind of interaction senators kerry and lugar have had with your
CAOS and that forced him to take the U turn

On one hand you are certain of the horrible time the COAS had in US but on the other hand you are not sure about what sort of interaction he had...make up your mind...

The COAS gave a responsible statement of diverting military funding towards concrete economic boosters.

The war in this region is a complicated one and to win it one needs to devise a strategy which is not just military in nature but deals with the economic depriviation and associated social factors which need to be addressed in order to inhibit growth of militancy.

There is a reason that the COAS was a part of the delegation, it was to ensure that the overall prioritization is done keeping the military threats in mind and to retain an overall balance in the lookahead strategy devised as part of the composite dialogue.

A balanced approach is needed in order to achieve synergy between the military and civilian arms of the government in tackling the issues at hand.

The Army has had phenomenal successes against the terrorists but all will be wasted if enough is not done to address the economic woes...the Army would be wolling to let go of its part of the aid packages if the GOP feels that it needs more cash in the reconstruction and economic stabilization steps.

125 million in return for many valuable lives that WE lost plus all the monetary loss that we face! is NOTHING!!! they have sent us home with nothing! just words of help! nothing is coming out of this "strategic" dialogue crap!

Patience my friend, this was the start of the dialogue.
We shall see the results of hardwork take shape when the next round is concluded.
No need to panic or assume that we have gained nothing.

Pakistan has been regaining its stature in last year or so on the diplomatic front.
The rewards do not manifest themselves the next month...it takes time.

I am impressed with the joint efforts of foreign department and Army.
We are getting back on track after making some very difficult decisions.
