Strangely the couple of military officers that i have talked to have had strict reservation of Chinese equipment being so superior as we tend to believe in defence.pk. Seriously we need to think about our defence with open mind rather carry out with this useless blind patriotism for china that we have developed. They all told me that Pakistan desires to have access to top of the line Chinese equipment but over and over again we get rejected and have to take export products and also because thats only what we can afford other wise with few more money in pocket we would defiantly prefer tested and proven western technology which mind is is preferred by almost every pakistani military officers. Hi,

Since the inception of defence.pk, I believe in 2005---we have had some full bloodied discussions and arguments about the western weapons systems that pakistan should have procured after 9/11---and how badly the procurement process failed---when pakistan millitary had U S and the rest of the western countries in the palm of their hands---how they bungled up everything and every oppurtunity----.

We have argued till the cows came home and then went out the next morning---but nothing changed----till we realized the futility of the discussion and that of the argument.

As the pak millitary made its decision to go after what they decided what was right for them---we on the board----worn out---by years of discussion---also moved ahead with our thoughts that we put over here, once the chinese equipment started flowing in.

New excitements for the newbies----most of us who have been around for a while---already know that the chinese weapons systems are not the best, but neither are they mediocre in nature---people who talk about how great the chinese have progressed and how close they are to the americans---are only right half the way---.

On a scale of 1----10 in technology, where the USA is 10---and china was at a 3---5, some 15 years ago---today that same china is closing in at around 6----8, depending on the field.

The problems that we are facing today are due to the fact that we played the wrong hand most of the time since 9/11, when it came to what we need for our millitary.

Most of us know that Rafael is a must for PAF---no ifs and buts about that---we also know that pak should have turned every table to secure the Qatari mirage 2000-9's once they became available---we also know that pak navy should have done their home work better when they had the chance to buy the british frigates---we also know that pak should have insisted about getting at least 4 sqdrns of F 16's blk 52 plus all the current F 16's mlu'd within the first 24 months of the start of hostilities after 9/11-----half of them within the first six months and the remaining after that---we also know that pak millitary should have ripped the heart out of the AL qaeda and the pak taliban---at the first oppurtunity they had---.

The screw ups of our millitary since 9/11 are that of a galactic proportion---they failed to strike the right deal with the u s and failed to order equipment on fast track---then they failed to do what their job was---to neutralize al qaeda and pak taliban.

If it had been Israel---or if it had been india under the similiar circumstances----they would have ripped open the americans to make the right deal for their nations---.

Now pakistan millitary and pakistani public blames everyone else---u s---europe---russia---india---israel---for their own mistakes and blunders---shamelessly---the bottomline is----PAKS had no clue with what to do with the GOOSE that had landed in their backyard----instead of getting a golden egg everyday---they decided to kill it and have a feast made out of it for one meal.

Now that the realization has hit reality---we end up with our old friend---china----God bless china for standing with us through thick and thin.

The best post I have ever read I second it , just imagine if China will not sell weapons to Pakistan who will (even not their best)?? and will India let west to sell weapons to Pakistan??
French sold Sub to Pakistan and gave better to India.
Has any one read what German law makers were saying about Pakistan about selling sub to Pakistan??

Well germany is willing to sell us one of their best sub the U-214 and if it wasnt for the delaying tactics used by the GOP for obvious reasons, we would have seen a deal by now but never the less u boats will be in Pakistan.

We got the AWAC deal secured.

when i was going through your post, i felt as if it was written by me or i was talking to myself.

I agree to you completly, but we must not lose heart, we are victums to our self produced problems, we vote for them sometimes to setup the rule of our caste on other castes, sometimes our language over other languages, sometime our interests over other people's interest within pakistan.

but it is becomes heartbreaking for us to know that the people whom we voted for, for our purpose, has their own agendas and they always work for themselves, no matter what is at stake, be it a nation or a country, nothing matters to them except their bank balanaces, luxuries etc.

we can't blame the ruling class for anything, Infact its a TIT for TAT world. when we vote for them we do so without a national view point rahter we use to have a selfish attitute, when someone is selected by a mob of selfish people, he must be the best and it happens like that, so the selected people are the most selfish people of our society.

we have to correct this at the grassroot level, if we want to prevail as a free nation and sovereign country with a free foreign policy which represents our national attitude towards international issues, we must free ourselves from falling victims to castes, region, languages etc.

There is no such thing as democracy in Pakistan. Elections in Pakistan are nothing but drama because it is already decided by the ‘USA + Military/Civilian establishment’ who is to bring into power this time (please read the interviews by the ex-Army Chiefs, ex-ISI officials). The solution is a bloody revolution where each and every bastard from the ruling elite class is killed along with his family like it happened during the French and Bolshevik revolutions. Nope... Only German subs will feature self defence weapon which has the advantage of firing while submerged... only few subs can fire SAMs but only on surface and a great great risk of being detected and destroyed.

Nope not true at all. Western High tech or better tech is still dominating in pakistan over quantity chinese weapons. I will be grateful to god only if China once in for all opens their top of the line domestic products for pakistan like US has done with its allies.

Because we paid about a billion dollars while india is paying 3 times more so of course higher technology deal goes to them. anyways, PN will be shortly getting one of the best conventional submarines from Germany which are by far better subs then Scorpene.
