What is the 'situation' in kerala ? Since when did Onam become a anti Vaman day ?

Vaman is not a 'evil brahmin', he is Vishnu Avataar. Onam IS a festival in his celebration.

I am glad that this provides and opportunity for Malayalees to correct the distortions of history.

To put it in a more 'secular' perspective,

'Maveli a.k.a Maha Bali ' is the equivalent of 'Santa Clause'. Since when did Santa clause become bigger than Jesus during Christmas ?

This is the level of absurdity in Kerala. Onam is not 'maveli day', its 'Vaman day'. If Malayalee hindus have forgotten it, then Amit shah has a duty to remind everyone of this.


How can you as a Hindu not understand this simple fact ? Did you really think Onam was about 'maveli' ?

Mahabali was loved by vishnu as he was the grandson of Bhakt Prahalad (Narasmha avatar). Vishnu tricked him to relinquish his kingdom to spare his life. Pleased with this Nobility MahaVishnu blessed him that he could visit his people once every year, but for the rest of the time he would be in Paathala.

The Moral of the story is that Dharma is bigger and more important than 'Nobility' or 'charity' etc. which are only temporary in nature. Dharma is forever.


The objective of Onam should be to celebrate Dharma, not celebrate nobility. To celebrate the victory of good over evil. To celebrate freeing Dharma from Mahabali.

It would be idotic to twist this to make Mahabali a hero and celebrate him as one celebrates Osama bin Laden for his heroic war against the US.

This entire month is an auspicious month due to Vishnu and that is why Gokkulashtami and Onam both fall in this month. (Also ganesh chaturti) and is dedicated to Krishna and Vamana (both Vishnu Avatar).

The day after the Full moon (shukla paksha) is the dwithi and that is why this day is know as 'Vaman Dwithi'.

This is the day Onam is celebrated.


All this has NOTHING to do with Maha Bali. Do you get that ?
