The ANKA is a MALE UAV. A HALE-UCAV would be the MQ-9 Which can fly at 50,000 feet and has a 900 shp (671 kW) turboprop engine.

Or the RQ-4 HALE UAV which has jet engine and can fly at 65,000 feet.

Anka is NOT MALE UAV, Anka is HALE UCAV. Invitation ceremony documents for Anka writes HALE for Anka, and TAI officials already declared that the max altitude of Anka has been considerably increased to a degree that can register Anka as HALE. (Anka has a max altitude >30 000 feet) Anka’s platform was built as a weapon-loadable platform. Anka-B has Cirit missiles. Turkish Cirit missile already proved to be superior than US's Hellfire and Israel's Spike. Hence, Anka is not only UAV but also UCAV.
Anka has various features that are superior to MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B) and Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk HALE UAV!
1. Anti-icing system is superior to these two UCAVs; also, to Heron: Anka can operate in all bad weather conditions and send the viewing flawlessly. Herons cannot send the viewing in stormy or bad weather conditions, for example.
2. ASELFLIR-300T imaging system of Anka is superior to MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B) and Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk HALE UAV. ATAK T-129 Turkish coppers will also use ASELFLIR-300T. Even, Herons of Turkey have Turkish-made ASELFLIR-300T.
3. MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B): Max altitude: 50,000 feet (Service ceiling). This is SERVICE CEILING, NOT THE OPERATIONAL ALTITUDE. The operational altitude: 25,000 ft (7.5 km). Engine: 900 shp (671 kW) turboprop engine.

4. Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk HALE UAV: Engine: jet engine. Max altitude: 65.000 feet.
While Global Hawks data-collection capabilities have been praised, the aircraft suffered a high number of accidents, with 2 of the aircraft, more than 1/4 of the aircraft used in the wars, being lost. Australian press: “the crashes were due to technical failures or poor maintenance, with a failure rate per hour flown over 100 times higher than the F-16 fighters flown in the same wars.
5. Anka is protected against electronic warfare: There is 200-kms-range for protection to all kinds of electronic warfare. If, for example, one succeeds to handle UCAV’s interface FOR THE FIRST TIME, Anka’s software code says “DO NOT CARE THE NEW COMMANDS; CONTINUE TO FINISH THE MISSION: DESTROY THE ENEMY COMPLETELY”. The Anka’s protective algorithm is changed and a new encryption is employed. If, anyhow, one succeeds to handle UCAV’s interface for the second time, Anka’s software code says “DO NOT CARE THE NEW COMMANDS; RETURN BACK TO HOME (Home: whichever airbase is pre-assigned). The electronic warfare protection of Anka is superior to MQ-9 Reaper (Predator B) and Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk HALE UAV.

Sir Anka is powered by a centrion 1.7 or 2.0 engine. Seeing as the engine is similar to the MQ-1 (in shp) it should be able to if armed carry 2 Missiles on each wing hardpoint(That is yet to be seen) Also the Cirit is a 2.75 inch guided rocket not a missile. UMTAS is what your referring to as that is what can be compared to the Hellfire and Spike. There is no way the Anka can be superior to a MQ-9 it is far slower,can't fly as high, and will carry far less ordinance (Unless the B version sees extensive upgrades) Also 30,000 feet is the service ceiling.



PROJECT : TIHA (TURKISH INDIGENOUS MALE UAV )

The TIHA, Turkish Indigenous MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) System Program signed between the Undersecretariat for National Defense (SSM) and TAI at December 24, 2004 to meet the MALE UAV requirements of Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). Program covers design, development, production, test and delivery of three air vehicle prototypes, all related ground systems and technical documentation, consist of "Conceptual Design", "Preliminary Design", "Detail Design and Development" and "Tests and Evaluation" phases. During the development phase, a Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL), where system elements and their interfaces will be developed and integrated is established. Consequently, the TIHA System,

Technical Specifications:

TIHA system basic performance parameters are as follows:

* Service Ceiling: 30,000 ft
* Endurance: 24 hrs
* Cruise Speed: >75 kts
* Environmental Conditions: 15 kts side wind, 20 kts head wind; temperature, humidity, rain and icing limits as defined in MIL-HDBK-310

I understand this is a great accomplishment but it is important for us to be realistic. There is no need to make claims that are untrue and exaggerated.

This is a great achievement by the TAI. Turkey should be rightly proud over developing the ability to produce and hopefully export (to Pakistan at least;-) such niche technology.:tup:

Blain i was wondering is there any news of the Burraq UCAV ? As far as specs and such. Since reports are saying Pakistan is interested in the Anka are you guys still going ahead with your program ? Or like you said will a tech transfer happen ?

Burraq is going ahead, and as far as i know, the design is little bit different compared to Turkish Anka or predator kind of design.

It has some other influence in its design.

But Anka can be a good option for Pakistan for HALE category, as Anka it seems to be now is in the HALE category rather then MALE.

I think PAK have also a urgent need for Surveilance UAV in the MALE Category, inducting Anka would enhance PAF ISR Capabillity for Reccon Missions over FATA. Anka are also capable of conducting Electronic Attack which is important to jamm enemy Radars by deep Strike Mission into enemy Terretory.

No it is MALE that is the Category it fits.

Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) refers to an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that flies at an altitude window of 10,000 to 30,000 feet for extended durations of time, typically 24 to 48 hours.

HALE UAVs are generally in the window of 60,000-65,000+ generally the higher end and have longer endurance and greater range though the main governing aspect is that is can reach FL-600(60,000) Also these would travel international distances rather then national ones.. Anka would need a engine upgrade first and overall larger fuselage and wings for the added weight/increased payload etc.TAI also labels it as a MALE UAV. Heron and the MQ-1 are also around the same specs as the ANKA and both are MALE.

and we never thought of buying them .....denel however asked pakistan and some of the countries to look upon but all in vain bcoz at that time we were makin our own Uqaab UAV!!!!

As we are loosing lifes to terrorism, we are in need of UAVs. Some mini and tactical UAVs vere already been produced but it takes serious time to develop a MALE UAV. So we had to buy some foreign UAVs for emergency needs. But for some reason this project has delayed.

Thats that simple...

And ANKA dont even look like Heron i dont know why people are talking about Herons all the time

Heron deal has been signed in 2005
Anka development program has been started in 2004...

Which side of that situation is hard to comprehend for some of you ?
