Air Force chief says French fighter jet deal close

Punit

If your favour ur russian friends and the Fgfa.

You better get ready to be financially raped for 25 billion dollars.

The gorskohv went From 800 million to 2.6 billion.

Just watch India get raped for 25 years on Fgfa.

We have just signed away our forex to russia

We Wil get no technology no transfer on involvemrnt In developing Fgfa.

And it wi lack cutting edge western cockpit.

Give me rafale any day over fgfa

IAF is clueless about the deal. Replacing mig21 (cheapest aircraft) with the rafael (most expensive 4th Gen aircraft) is out of this world.

Neither is IAF clueless, nor is Rafale the most expensive fighter. The point is, they want a multi role fighter in the medium class and be it the Mirage 2000-5 (that also is far more capable than the Migs or LCA MK1), or the Rafale, both fit the bill on operational terms.

Except they do not have an own engine, weapons.

Actually they have an engine, the RM12 (even if it's based on the GE 404), more importantly they have the know how that we lack, be it in engine and radar developments or even fighter design. What they lack is the demand in numbers, the political support and power, as well as the money to do it all alone. Things that we could had provided!
Brazil is now taking advantage of exactly that, they use the know how base of the Gripen and the Swedes to create their own fighter developments. Be it designing the twin seater or naval varient (similar to what we might do in FGFA), by adding own weapons and systems and in mid to long term maybe even integrating an own engine. All fundend by Brazil and for the Brazilian demand, based and supported by Swedish know how!

.
then we might as well buy the Tejas instead

Sure.. why not.. If We get SAAB's know how , we can develop LCA as true multirole aircraft. Why limit yourself to 126 RAFALEs when you can induct >250 LCAs ( upgraded ) in same price..

That's PR and that's why the media jumped on it, the "policy" towards Japan howver haven't changed a bit, but is a continuation and that's the real positive point. No matter which party rules and what differences they might have about politics within India, the foreign policy of India must always be the same and must be supported by all parties!
Nah!I'm not really interested in Nuclear,China or US2 but about the soft power. He tried selling India to the Japanese like no one.Another important thing is to sell different shades of India :-)

They do have know how but not what to we want. It make sense if they have own engine full weapon package etc. They are very smart knowing that they can't have influence like America does for their weapon selling, THEY just stopped with Gripens. No further development of 5th gen.

Because 250 x LCAs will not be as capable as 126 Rafales
Because 250 x LCAs will not be able to do the same roles or missions as 126 Rafales
Because 250 x LCAs will not give us the needed industrial and technical benefits as 126 Rafales

Translation please.

:) I see it the other way, I don't care about PR and the other stuff politicians need to do, I only look at what comes out for India and there we don't see much difference to what we have seen before. Economical / industrial relations to Japan keep growing (good!), defence and nuclear ties remains limited (bad!). At the end of the day it doesn't matter if the Japanese people like him or not, but what political changes can be made. This trip obviously was too early to really change something, lets hope that we can convince the Japanese to change things sooner or later.

They surely could had helped in Kaveri development, since Volvo has vast experience in engine developments. Saab has more than enough experience in fighter or general aircraft design, which clearly is another field where India lacks behind and even in radar developments with indigenous puls doppler radar in the older Gripens and at least core parts of the AESA also developed on their own, they are ahead in that field too. Weapons are not important, since you can add different weapons, from different origins to fightes, important for us, is a successful fighter development and there they could had helped us for sure.
Also they never stopped, they keep further developing the Gripen with maybe the most innovative changes from all current gen fighters, they are part of the nEUROn stealth UCAV development (just as Dassault, that also don't develop a stealth fighter), have developed stealth fighter concepts for S. Koreas KFX and also stealthy further developments based on the Gripen.

Come on... SAAB will bring much more to the table then RAFALE.. Frankly I am not very optimistic about ToT for even FGFA.

Again, "Saab" is not = "Gripen"! Saab brings advantages for India, under the right conditions (joint developments, JV's...), but so would Dassault. Gripen however doesn't bring much on the table for India, while Rafale does.

Thats why I am saying "Buy SAAB" not "buy Gripen".. :)

Fgfa is nothing more than a guaranteed cash cow for Russia.

The Russians are losing the international arms market to the west and China has become self sufficient.

We Indians with s massive dependence and need for weapons due to ouut corrupt burocratic politicians

Russia is going to milk over 25 billion from us on Fgfa.

This will pay for it'd entire development and their first ,100.fighters.

It Wil in some facets be behind in cockpit tech even to western 4th gen fighters.

Shit proposal from desperate India

What a BS.

Russia losing internationals arms market?

Russia is biggest weapon exporter in the world.

If you dont want a FGFA,simpy say "**** off " to Russians,T50 is strategical goal for Russia to keep West away from their borders, after this mess in Ukraine they will pay even billions more to make PAK FA working.

And good luck when another 1965/71 crisis happened to India,I hope that tiny Oland will provide political support to India, but i highly doubt potential of France to project power in South Asia.
