By the way, Pakistan can play the same game U.S. is playing. Supplying our enemy's other enemy to weaken our enemy. Pakistan must do everything in its power to safeguard its interests in Afghanistan.

The most insane comment,tell me 1 single weapon that u r able to supply to an American enemy that America dont have.

Furthermore which enemy of US are u talking about,do u think that any such country even in their wildest dream will think about taking the help of Pakistan to confront the king of the ring US.

India should also give some military equipments to Afghan as well.

And what do expect from our country which import 70 % of the weapons for our own use.

What are the weapons we are capable of producing as of now,missiles(well u know we cant supply it to them).

Ships(afghan dont need it).

Howitzers,light arms,tanks(we ourself import it).

Fighter jets,helis(currently in development phase).

Currently as of now possible armored vehicles and MBRL's.

The only thing we can provide them is a decent training in our academies,at current stage do not look more than it.

those guys are smashed on a joint of Afghans finest charas -when they arent busy bickering amongst themselves after a heroin/opium-induced coma. The taleban have some of the sophisticated weaponry they have because the talebs have countless moles or sell-outs working in the ANA.


of course the Americans will arm them to the teeth......then some ragtag ANAs will sell the weapons to talebs. Some of those weapons may be used against Pakistan (meaning we should increase vigilance on both borders).


such is the state of affairs in Afghanistan! And then they wonder why we "meddle" in their affairs!



the ANA is the most undisciplined, laugh-worthy, ragtag 'militia' which is being used to marginalize Pakhtuns. As long as that environment prevails, Afghanistan will be what it has been for some decades.

US used to secure supply routes using local Afghan militias and local people. The drawback was that the locals got bribed and they gave away alot of the supplies to third party dealers, who gave them to the insurgents. Explains the need of Blackwater.

1st bold part : Why they are still there after 10 years ? and Controlling territory :O

2nd bold part : Then again you said that they are on the run or is it you on the run as soon as possible after all you have to pay salaries to your soldiers.how the hell they are on the run when they are controlling territory ?

One issue is infusion of hardware. Most of this can be used and maintained by the Afghans. The real issue for the Afghans is, what happens after the aid infusion stops? Would the Afghan Army be able to sustain such purchases on their own and keep their strength up?

I think, like all countries in the world, the Afghans deserve their own Army and maybe in the future, the Pashtun elements will join the ANA in greater numbers, but the real issue would be sustaining this force at the current level. Throughout the 70s and 80s, the Afghan Army suffered from high desertion rates and this was despite Soviet largess. This time around, there is NATO funding available, however this is also not a sustainable tap.

Ideally I would like to see the Afghans have close relations with Pakistani military institutions, along with others, but the NA elements have stonewalled such attempts and in the end this will hurt both the Afghans and Pakistan.

APCs? not gonna happen. Much of the terrain isnt even conducive for it especially border areas.....and even if there were hostile APCs coming our way, we have the means to blow them off the ground and into kingdom come.


as for bara market, yes much of those goods are smuggled from afghanistan ; or i presume looted from the NATO supply lorries that are time to time attacked on our side
