Durand line issue is nothing but double faced attitude of Afghanistan.

Dear DR, please dont associate the non issue of Durand line to all Afghans as it is Pashtun issue only. Since Pakistan is having trust and good relations with them, you need to sort this out with them. This non issue have the least significance to the non pashtuns and we consider KPK as integral part of Pakistan.

Guys, give some recognition where due.

ANA was non-existent before US/NATO came in to Afghanistan. Building an entire army from scratch is a very tedious and difficult task. Taming the illiterates is an overwhelming job. Therefore, efforts of US/NATO should not be ridiculed and neither should be ANA.

Apart from media propaganda, lots of things are going behind the scenes which if highlighted may give a positive outlook of Afghanistan. At least, ISAF is trying to project this positive outlook of Afghanistan.

And we are giving Taliban too much attention. Our policy should be to integrate Taliban in to the Afghan government and ANA and not pit them against each other. This is a solution that even US/NATO do not object to.

Also, ANA is undegoing literacy program now. Here is some news in this regard. This move can be a game-changer in the region.

Dear Legend, you mentioned something something really important that nobody knew or was willing to talk about it. Everybody question the achievment of GoA and international allies in Afghanistan, but they fail to understand what the situation of country was 10 years ago? If the country look zero today, it is because we were in the region of minus twenty a few years back, so there is significant improvement in every section of society and gov in Afghanistan. This positive improvement is visible to People who have lived in the country and know its past and present. Our economy is growing, we have less hungry people in the country compare to the past, our schools are open in many parts of the country(including girls schools), while 10 years ago we never had it, universites are doing great, other parts of our educational system be it gov or private is absolutely making progress, media has been revolutionarized, there are many many TV channels and papers, and people are no longer have to listen to the gov side of story only. Although some people here love to portray Afghanistan as a lost cause, pointing to the deteriorating security, but the truth is, our security have significatnly improved over the last years, we are dying less in numbers compare to pre 2001, in those days everytime there was military operation between difrferent sides, many many people were masacared, i am sure you have heard of several thousands of masacars of innocent people who were killed by the taliban, they simply entered the houses and killed everybody who didnt look like them, not to mention the atrocities of different mujhideen groups(Hekmatyar, Rabani, Sayaf, Dostum, Mazari etc). I regulary visit the country every year, last time i visited it, was a month ago, i spent 2 months and i thoroughly enjoyed it, i wasnt even in Kabul which is having better standard of life and facilities, i was in a village with less faciilities, but there was peace and people busy with their lives. So, as an Afghan i am hopeful, because i have seen total hell in the past and what i see now in Afghansitan looks like a paradise to me. And i do hope that Afghans get on well with their neighbours including Pakistan, that is to the benefit of all of us, what really puzzle me is why Paksitan is not having a better relationship with the non pashtuns, and once we remove that misunderstanding, we will all have an easier life.

I hope that people from Afghanistan will realize and will step up toward positive & constructive relations with Pakistan leaving useless issues behind the international border of their side.

Afghanistan set to get huge supply of military gear
Submitted 3 hrs 19 mins ago
NATO’s war planners call it the “iron mountain,” the $2.7 billion mass of military equipment that will be dropped on Afghanistan over the next eight months. But will the mountain be tall enough? Between now and next March, the U.S.-led coalition will deliver 22,000 vehicles, including 514 new four-wheeled “mobile strike force” armored vehicles yet to be used in Afghanistan, 44 airplanes and helicopters, 40,000 weapons, and tens of thousands of radios and other pieces of communications gear. “It’s an enormous amount of equipment, vehicles and weapons,” said one U.S. military official. Some Afghans, however, are looking at what the mountain’s missing, particularly fighter jets and tanks. Among them is Defense Minister Abdul Rahim Wardak, who believes such sophisticated weaponry would intimidate the Taliban and keep neighbors Iran and Pakistan at bay.

Sounds wonderful but Afghan soldiers are poorly trained. Weapons won't cut it. Most likely they will end up in Taliban's hand.

Pakistan should first sort out the disputed territory land from Afghanistan, and give some land back to Afghanistan, and maybe then you 2 could be allies.

No buddy, we dont want that land back. If we ever want to have it, we have lost territory to the others as well to be returned, but that is not the way forward.

I barely see Afghans talking on this issue here but it's only you guys who poke this issue in every thread! this thread is too a victim of Durand line issue.
