ADL Survey Shows Iran Least Anti-Semitic Middle East Country

Al Hasani I am going to recycle it, you already got your message about your hypothetical Semitic nationalism. :sarcastic::sarcastic:

Which Semitic nationalism are you talking about? You are just really mad because I countered all your nonsense with actual FACTS and you are angry that your people are native to the Indian Subcontinent. At one point you are trying to disprove that on the other hand you are not. Quit strange.

Yet still no answers and just running away from my questions and points. Why? Because you have no clue about genetics.

Anyway, I don't understand why you guys are attacking each other? This was supposed to be a Jew related thread. LOL.

I never said Sri Lankan are European. Where did I say it Will you point it out? All I am saying is that, Sri Lankans are a diverse people with all sorts of looks since Sri Lanka is situated in middle of famous ancient shipping routes. And yeah generally Sri Lankans are darker because of being closer to equator.

As far as I know Semitic is also a language family as Indo-European.

What's the need for posting photos of people then? You posted an Afro-Arab. They are normally the people who are herding camels. Why because in older times slaves where used for that by Arabs and many other people. In Iraq Gypsies were doing similar tasks.

The point that you and a few other users seem to not understand is that you cannot link language family with ancestry/origin. They are opposites.

You were the one including color here. Color has nothing to do with ancestry or the points I were making.
Semitic is a linguistic branch (aside from being a race) of the greater Afro-Asiatic language family. Semitic equals Germanic actually. Yet people speaking Semitic languages (it's easier just to call them Semites) DO NOT cluster with other Afro-Asiatic peoples.

Just like the average Sri Lankan, Bengali, Indian etc. do NOT cluster with outsiders or Europeans based on some vague and distant linguistic connection.

All ME people, regardless of being Iraqis, Syrians, Saudi Arabians, Iranian, Turks etc. cluster with each other irrespectively of speaking different languages (belonging to different language families). Why? Because they are mostly native to the same relatively small geographic region and they have lived next to each other and mixed for millenniums. Even long before they were known as separate people.

So don't equal language families with actual ancestry.

@Sam1980
I am not sure what you are trying to prove here? First of all Ashkenazis do not number all Jews. In fact about 50% or so if I recall. Moreover most genetic tests done on them show that most belong to Middle Eastern lineages. Do they have non-Middle Eastern admixture? Of course what do you expect after living for centuries abroad? But despite that Jews still sticked with other Jews. Intermarriages were rare in Europe.

@500 remember our past discussion about this? You should come here and look at this debate. People are simply denying science now for the sake of their own arguments and for some inferiorities. Pathetic.

The results of a new survey released by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), as deplorable as they are, show that Iran is the least anti-Semitic country in the Middle East.

Not that the ADL is doing anything to point this out in their just-released report entitled, Global 100: An Index of Anti-Semitism. This surprising fact can only be uncovered by comparing Iranian responses with those of other Middle Eastern countries.

According to the index scores of the more than 100 countries around the world included in the survey, the most anti-Semitic place on earth is the West Bank and Gaza (93%). Iraq isn’t far behind the Palestinian territories, which are, of course, under Israeli occupation. But Iran doesn’t even make it into the survey’s worldwide top 20 anti-Semitic hotspots.

The first of the eleven statements to which respondents were asked to categorize as “probably true” or “probably false” was Jews are more loyal to Israel than to [this country/to the countries they live in]. While 56% of Iranians responded in the affirmative, in other MENA countries the percentage of respondents agreeing with this assertion were significantly higher: Saudi Arabia 71%; Lebanon 72%; Oman 76%; Egypt 78% Jordan 79%; Kuwait 80%; Qatar 80%; UAE 80%; Bahrain 81%; Yemen 81%; Iraq 83%; West Bank and Gaza 83%. (It’s too bad that Israel was not among the countries surveyed. It would be interesting to know what Israelis believe on this point.)

The other indicators of anti-Semitic attitudes were:

Jews have too much power in the business world. Iran 54%; Saudi Arabia 69%; Oman 72%; Egypt 73%; UAE 74%; Lebanon 76%; Qatar 75%; Bahrain 78%; Jordan 79%; Kuwait 79%; Yemen 82%; Iraq 84%; West Bank and Gaza 91%.

Jews have too much power in international financial markets. Iran 62%; Oman 68%; Egypt 69%; Saudi Arabia 69%; UAE 71%; Qatar 71%; Jordan 76%; Bahrain 76%; Lebanon 76%; Kuwait 77%; Yemen 78%; Iraq 85%; West Bank and Gaza 89%.

Jews still talk too much about what happened to them in the Holocaust. Iran 18%; Yemen 16%; Saudi Arabia 22%; Egypt 23%; Kuwait 24%; Lebanon 26%; Jordan 29%; Iraq 33%; Oman 42%; UAE 45%; Bahrain 51%; Qatar 52%; West Bank and Gaza 64%.

Jews don’t care what happens to anyone but their own kind. Iran 50%; Egypt 68%; Oman 70%; Lebanon 71%; Kuwait 73%; UAE 73%; Saudi Arabia 74%; Jordan 75%; Qatar 75%; Bahrain 75%; Iraq 76%; Yemen 80%; West Bank and Gaza 84%.

Jews have too much control over global affairs. Iran 49%; Oman 67%; Saudi Arabia 70%; Egypt 71%; Qatar 73%; UAE 73%; Bahrain 76%; Iraq 77%; Lebanon 77%; Jordan 78%; Kuwait 80%; Yemen 80%; West Bank and Gaza 88%.

Jews have too much control over the United States government: Iran 61%; Oman 67%; Saudi Arabia 70%; UAE 72%; Jordan 73%; Lebanon 73%; Qatar 73%; Egypt 74%; Bahrain 77%; Kuwait 78%; Yemen 79%; Iraq 85%; West Bank and Gaza 85%.

Jews think they are better than other people: Iran 52%; Lebanon 61%; Egypt 66%; Oman 66%; Qatar 67%; Bahrain 68%; UAE 68%; Saudi Arabia 69%; Kuwait 71%; West Bank and Gaza 72%; Jordan 73%; Yemen 76%; Iraq 80%.

Jews have too much control over the global media: Iran 55%; Bahrain 61%; Oman 65%; Egypt 69%; Saudi Arabia 69%; Qatar 70%; UAE 70%; Kuwait 72%; Lebanon 73%; Iraq 77%; Jordan 77%; Yemen 79%; West Bank and Gaza 88%.

Jews are responsible for most of the world’s wars: Iran 58%; Qatar 64%; Lebanon 65%; Oman 65%; UAE 65%; Kuwait 66%; Saudi Arabia 66%; Egypt 66%; Jordan 67%; Bahrain 71%; West Bank and Gaza 78%; Yemen 84%; Iraq 85%.

People hate Jews because of the way Jews behave: Iran 64%; Lebanon 76%; Bahrain 77%; Kuwait 80%; Egypt 81%; Oman 81%; Iraq 81%: Saudi Arabia 81%; Qatar 82%; UAE 82%; Jordan 84%; West Bank and Gaza 87%; Yemen 90%.

Iran has a complicated relationship with its Jewish community, and has a long way to go before it can be considered a safe haven for Jews, even if some Persian Jews may disagree. Still, the ADL’s data makes it clear that Iran is not only the least anti-Semitic country in its region, it also scores far better on every one of the ADL’s eleven survey indicators by a statistically significant margin. That’s something worth thinking about.

Agreed Sam. I've always thought that Iranians (especially Persian Iranians) are not that hostile towards Jews. I even think that, generally, Jews should not be seen as enemy to Iran. Iran's real enemies are Arabs - hands down. Apart from the political propaganda, it appears that the average Iranian would hold more grudges towards Arabs than towards Jews.

Moreover, the current Iranian regime's actions (as opposed to its words) has proven to fully recognize whose Iran's real enemies are. That's why the real destruction is taking place right now in Yemen, Syria, and Iraq (not elsewhere).

I posted those pictures based on common misunderstanding in Europe and Canada because in those countries Tamils (minority) are regarded as the majority in Sri Lanka simply because they make up the majority of Sri Lankan diaspora in those countries while being extremely anti-Sri Lankan. That's very annoying.

Genetics in Sri Lanka is a complicated issue. I don't have much time to argue about this. I am out.

I don't need to prove anything. Its you whose trying to prove that all Jews are Semites, for whatever reason. Which is not true.
By not marrying outsiders I don't mean brother, sisters, cousin, etc.. married each other. I mean marriages with Jews of other families, so their bloodline remained pure for centuries. Obviously we don't have disagreement here it just that you misunderstood my intention.

An Arab prating.
Real enemies of arabs are Wahabis.

@Sam1980 what makes you think that you know more about genetics let alone know enough to disprove 100's of genetic tests that were done on Jews? What authority are you to deny such findings? Or leading genetic experts in America and Europe? What are you trying to prove here? That Ashkenazi Jews are Turkic people? Really? That most Ashkenazi do not have paternal ties to the Middle East contrary to what genetic tests have shown and their own folklore and tradition?

@500 your participation is needed here I think.

I did not understand your first sentence. Most Sri Lankans are of a darker and more swarthy complexion than most Asians. Due to geography. Not all but the majority. Just like most Indians and Bengalis. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't understand the somewhat of a South Asian obsession of linking themselves with either Arabs, Persians, Turks and more outrageously Europeans who are in fact Central Asians in this case and who only influenced small parts of the Subcontinent and are an ancient remain and do not even make up the majority of the overall admixture of that minority who can trace their paternal lineage to Central Asia. I just don't get it. Genetic tests do simply not lie. I know that I won't change the opinion of those people anyway but it's a shame that they are living in ignorance. Just read my dialog with Indic.

I also know that you have Sri Lankan's that look differently from the average Sri Lankan and South Asian and that there are different ethnic groups in Sri Lanka. But the fact is that the vast majority is native to South Asia just like Indians and all others in the region.

Just like most Middle Eastern people are native to the Middle East, Africans native to Africa and Europeans to Europe and Chinese to the Far East. Irrespectively of the language family that they belong to.

Yes, there is always admixture and exceptions but I am talking overall here.

Langauge, culture, religion etc. has nothing to do with ancestry/genetics. Those are all aspects that you can adopt.

I can give a lot of controversial examples here (Azerbaijan etc.) but I will leave it at that.

Dude where the hell did I link Sri Lankans with anyone? Don't generalize Sri Lankans with the rest of the South Asians. And trust me no Sri Lankan will ever try to realate with anyone from ME . ME is considered as the centre of backwardness in Sri lanka so why would anyone try to relate with ME. No offence to you but that's the truth. For instance, if our cultural ministry tries to do something crazy like banning casinos, we just say "are we trying to be a Middle Eastern country" for a saying. That's the impression of ME among general public.

Show me one Sri Lankan who tries to link himself/herself with ME, I would kill myself.

You are not fooling anyone here. Many South Asians have a habit of claiming ancestry outside of the region regardless of religion and nationality. Most often from the Middle East.

Yes, the Middle East is also known as the cradle of civilizations and is well-known across the world as such and for its importance in human history that is unrivaled.

You did not understand what I wrote to you. I was not referring to you but the individual I discussed with and similar individuals. I have met many Muslim South Asians that claimed either Arab, Persian or Turkic ancestry yet they could not speak a word of either language. I am not the only one. I have seen people write the same here on PDF even. Just saying. A Roman Catholic Sri Lankan I knew for instance claimed Portuguese ancestry.

Anyway the well-known point that most people familiar with genetics know about is that you cannot equal language families with ancestry/DNA/origin. I gave plenty of examples of that and it's a well-known fact for those in this field. Ask any anthropologist as well.

I can't speak for other South Asians but Sri Lankans never claim foreign ancestry, certainly NOT Middle Eastern due to the reason I've mentioned in my last post.

I don't know about the person you met but there are Portuguese Sri Lankans, you may not know it but there are villages of Portuguese/Dutch people in Sri Lanka. There was a documentary about one of those places but I can't find it. There are even Africans in Sri Lanka.

Unlike you I am partial European and know much more about genetics than most users here.
That doesn't give you a automatic qualification/degree in any field. I don't think Europeans would consider you one of their own.

This thread is ridiculous.

This depends on who you ask. In any case it gives me enough knowledge to know that Europeans do not cluster with Indians and know enough about European genetics in connection to Middle Eastern and South Asian people because I myself happen to have a year-long interest in this field.

@Azizam

I know about that. Just like there are people of Portuguese ancestry in Goa. Few of them. The point I was trying to make is that I have noticed this among many South Asians. I saw that again in this debate. That's the only thing I raised on this field.

In the ME Sri Lanka is only known for poverty and maids mostly. Does that make sense to you? The importance of the ME cannot be underestimated. You know this as well.

Well aside from not equating language families with actual ancestry/origin which I have already written a novel about in this thread but it seems that some users have still not understood it. No, I am not referring to you.

@al-Hasani Getting inspiration from your hypothetical Semitic Nationalism, I am thinking of claiming Achaemenid Empire based on our common Indo-Iranian origin or Julius Caeser based on our common Indo-European origin. :omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

Actually Indians have the right to be pride of Iranian achievements in history and also other way around and even if needed achievement of Indo-europeans (I know this goes little bit far, but we're the children of Dyēus ).
Dyeus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indo-Iranians are people of rigveda and gathas and originate from one place and one language. Our kings wrote positively about India. We imported war elephants from India and had friendly ties. The name of Hind/hend/hendustan comes from old-persian term for sindhu river. S became H in Iranian languages when Iranian and Indian languages divided and that's why Hind instead of Sind.

The ZoroastrianJāmāsp-nāmag(Book of Jāmāsp) is a dialogue between Zoroaster’s patron King Wištāsp and his councilor Jāmāsp who has been endowed with the knowledge of things to come. In chapter VII, Wištāsp asks Jāmāsp about the customs of the Indians, the Chinese, the Arabs and the Berbers, and in two cases the diet of two of these peoples are mentioned. This is the excerpt of the answer by Jāmāsp:

“Jāmāsp the astrologer said to him: The country of India is a great one. It is cold and hot, wet and dry. It has wood and trees because there is a great desert. They are without ambition because their living is upon rice, upon milk of cattle, which feed upon seeds. Their manners and customs are much enlightened.”

This was written about the ancient Indic peoples which are now todays Pakistanis and Indians.

Persians imported chess from India and changed the game's name from chaturanga to chatrang. In exchange, Persians introduced backgammon to India.
During Khosrau I's reign, many books were brought from India and translated into Pahlavi, the language of the Sassanid Empire. Some of these later found their way into the literature of the Islamic world. A notable example of this was the translation of the Indian Panchatantra by one of Khosrau's ministers, Borzuya. This translation, known as theKelileh va Demneh, later made its way into Arabia and Europe

It's true India is one of the oldest nations that had sense of unity, protecting their lands, even while having many Indic sub-ethnicities. That's why they were called collectively Hind/Hend, and still called so in todays world.

Lower-level cultural interchanges also took place between India and Persia during this period. For example, Persians imported chess from India and changed the game's name from chaturanga to chatrang. In exchange, Persians introduced backgammon to India.

I know that and I am also against such individuals and they are NOT Sri Lankans. People should be proud of wherever they come from and put all their energy into developing that region if they really care about it. If they are not Sri Lankans, what do I have to do with them?

I know, not only in ME in most western countries also this is a popular misconception. I think this is largely due to the civil war. If you look at statistics, Sri Lanka is ranked high in Human Development Index and GDP per capita would be about "10,000" in 2020. Well, the misunderstanding is mutual.

Maids are mostly from Muslim ancestry who think of you people as "brothers" and for them working in ME means easy money.
