Aamir Khan To Remake ‘Forrest Gump’ For India

Aamir Khan, one of India’s biggest movie stars, said Thursday that he would produce and star in a local-language adaptation of Forrest Gump, which won six Oscars in 1995 including Best Picture Oscar, Best Actor for Tom Hanks and Best Director for Robert Zemeckis.

He unveiled the news during a Mumbai press conference to cut the cake on his 54th birthday (yeah, he’s that big there). The Hindi-language film will be an adaptation titled
Laal Singh Chadda, which will be produced by Viacom’s local studio Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Films. Paramount licensed the rights.

Khan said Advait Chandan, his director on 2017’s Secret Superstar, has been tapped to helm the film, which will not be a direct remake; the 1994 film and Winston’s Groom’s novel focused on American historical events, while this will be tied to Indian history. The actor said that shooting would start in October and is eyeing a 2020 release in India.

The Hindi actor is mega-star in his native country and China with credits including PK, Secret Superstar and Dangal, the latter wrestling drama India’s highest-grossing film of all time. His most recent film was last year’s Thugs of Hindostan.

I think he will probably leave some stuff out of the movie and change other stuff.

For example, in the original movie Forrest Gump shakes hands with JFK.

Laal Singh Chadda will probably shake hands with an Indian prime minister (maybe Lal Bahadur Shastri, since he was the prime minister during the same time period as JFK).

And if he would display a war in the movie, it would then probably be the Indo-Pakistani war of 1965.

And who would be Bubba the Shrimp guy?

That would of course be Sumeet Das, who makes the best shrimp curry in the whole of Bengal.

The only bollywood actor that I can bear to watch;the last bollywood film I watched was his,3 years ago ,a wrestling themed movie.I was actually intrigued by its success in china more than anything.But after watching it, I was able to construewhy so;the movie had a universal message and good storyline without unnecessary songs and dancing.

I am not surprised.... the indians have never contributed something original to the world. All they do is make copied cheaper versions of everything. No wonder this country generates the highest amount of fake news in the world. The word 'india' should have the meaning 'fake' standardised in oxford dictionaries around the globe.

Two Nation Theory has nothing to do with some shameless people who watch Indian movies...i have seen some people watch anti-Pakistan bollywood movies lol.
just look at the Indian Muslims right now they have to burn Pakistani flags to prove their patriotism and loyalty to India.
