What's new

A loss in Gilgit by Pakistan army in 1971 no one talks about

A new normal seems to be setting in.
New normal of loosing a war on purpose. New normal of loosing almost 50% of the territory.

Waiting for new additions to it.

worst part is, this is "As per plan"
how can letting your country break apart be part of a plan?
how come losing actual villages filled with citizens be part of a plan?
the fact that we dint ask to atleast repatriate those citizens (and they dint ask for it as well) says a lot!

this is like Pak saying "India is the dominant force" as per plan! imagine having the north east as well as connection with China, Myanmar in that region. would have effectively pinned down India for good.

@JX-1 what’s the reason of giving negative rating? There have been multiple posts claiming and saying the same thing by FM’s with pak flag. I just summarised it.

Unless this is the new normal after recent internal situation in Paksiatn.

Nope - it’s the new normal after people deciding no longer to lie about truth.

It is impossible for most Indians to digest and was near impossible for many Pakistanis to as well - but 71 was planned. This isn’t some wild journalistic conspiracy theory but a ignored truth by those who were privy to power in Pakistan. Acdre Mansoor Shah has put it in his book but there are more senior placed witnesses who were in posts with daily meetings in the corridors of power and otherwise.

Names like Hyeson group and other business elite along with west Pakistani political and military leadership had made the decision to abandon East Pakistan back in 1970 post the cyclone with the logic that it was expensive to keep it together.

This doesn’t take away from the many Pakistani soldiers who fought and died thinking they are being led to rightly defend their land or suffered through torture as PoWs , nor does it take away from Mukti Bahni or Indian forces victory in that fight with them.

All that has happened is that Pakistanis who while aren’t blind to the venomous hatred coupled with hypocritical condescending attitudes many Indians display here and elsewhere towards them, but that they no longer see a reason to fight against it anymore. The cause seems no longer worth it.

had east and west pakistan been together right now
aint no one in the establishment want to live in a bengali majority country or have bengalis flooding their home towns. even Indians hate them.

The reality is West Pakistan saw Bengalis as an inferior slave race, and Bhutto rejected the polish peace resolution and slept in his hotel room like a lazy *** for days to stall until Dhaka would fall.

You have instances like 40 soldiers holding off 4000 Indians + IAF. Pakistan could've defended East Pakistan if the Bengalis did not give their unconditional logistical and emotional support to India, and if the Pakistani establishment did not see Bengal as a slave colony rather than a part of the country. AAK Niazi had a similar opinion wrt Tikka Khan's actions.

Why would you want half your country's power concentrated 2000km away, surrounded by enemy territory? East Pakistan was a ridiculous, failed experiment of British's horrible border drawing skills.

I'd rather we traded East Pakistan, Hyderabad and Junagarh for Kashmir and not partitioning Punjab into India.

how can letting your country break apart be part of a plan?
Beacause Punjabis, Pathans, Sindhis, and Baloch don't want to be told what to do by Bengalis, who they see as an inferior race. And Kashmiris call everyone east of Punjab a Bihari. The establishment is more than just the army.

What's the strategic importance of this location ?
This area was manned by paramilitary which later formed GB scouts, not Pakistan Army regulars. Usually areas where paramilitary troops are deployed to defend has low strategic importance or depends upon number of allocated troops in the region with regular troops forming attack missions while paramilitary or 2nd tier troops like NG forming defensive postures.

The only wars Pakistan army wins are against it's own people. It always wages war against Pakistan's most popular leader and most popular political party.

Bingo. Pakistani people need to be freed from the occupation of Pakistani military establishment.

but 71 was planned.
Sounds preposterous but possible. Anything is possible in the game of power and politics.

If true, a lot of lives could have been saved by putting up even lesser resistance in the East. Yaha could have also avoided killing of scores of Bengalis.

Not everything is controlled by everyone in power and not everyone wants the same thing - hence disasters like 71 (or for that matter the Naxalite insurgency) occur.

Sub-continent armies are generally in a habit to fight for places which have strategically no importance, therefore, they would let soldiers die for mere inches. Life of a human is cheap in these areas.

In the times once it was manned by scouts, we simply did not have enough troops to man this area properly. Threat from Indian side also did not justify beefing it up.

GB scouts have one big advantage which our regular soldiers do not have. Since they belong to these areas, they are more rugged, tough, already acclimatized and able to use terrain in a natural manner. Indian authors and analysts also point out the same.

India should request pakistan to take kashmir and few more areas from punjab to complete the partition of 1947 . if pakistan agrees to take all muslims from India and few liberal secular hindus who are living in false world of belief that muslims can live peacefully with non muslims .
It is true that India would potentially witness greater prosperity without the presence of Muslims. This is not only due to the fact that Muslims constitute the poorest community in India, but also because their voting patterns often revolve around Islamic issues, diverting attention from development. While Hindus may also vote along ethnic lines, they prioritize development as well. In contrast, Muslims tend to cast their votes solely based on Islamic considerations.

soo many people in india as well as in pakistan are still blinded by the fake bravado
it was clear as day
had they had any intention to keep it together they would have postponed the election thats all that was needed and they knew very well
sprinkle some f spoce was pit by indians
i will go as far as saying indians were taken for a ride
cos they couldn’t keep their hard earned colony
in west everyone was just happy with the outcome
no serious effort was even made to militarily challenge india while they very well were in the position to do so
it was just eye wash

You may not be aware of the substantial amount of taxes that Hindu temples contribute to the government of India. Additionally, temples are involved in running schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, and various social welfare schemes. They also provide free food to anyone who visits the temple.
