A loss in Gilgit by Pakistan army in 1971 no one talks about

i would request everyone to stay in limits to disrespect our armed forces
constructive criticism is welcome
army bashing is not
and i will request senior members to continue this discussion based on facts

Too late … no body is listening

I'm not sure what is going on Pakistan at the moment. But People tell me there is a lot going on.

it was left purposely to capture chamb
so capture chumb in return of losing east pakistan and parts of mainland pakistan
while the narrative was, east pakistan was difficult to defend.

just so we are on the same page, had east and west pakistan been together right now, the economy, power, population and growth wise, pakistan would have been equal or greater than India, north east India would have been a cake walk and combined with china and India's chicken's neck, it would have been hell for India.

in return, we got chumb.

Before anyone calls me an ISPR bot, I first learnt the following from an Indian author.

In Kahsmir, Pakistan lost Turtuk, India lost Chamb (which is a strategically important town used as a launching pad for offensives into Akhnoor/Jammu region)

On the international (India-Pak) border in 1971 there is a more interesting story.

India captured much more territory than Pakistan. However, it was almost exclusively barren desert in Sindh which had little to no economic or political significance.

On the other hand, this was offset by the Pakistan Army capturing smaller quantities but far more economically important areas in Punjab.

Although the large quantity of territory India captured was a great talking point for domestic propaganda and jibes at the Pakistan Army, both countries' leaders were well aware of the ground realities.

Both countries tried to retake lost territory post ceasefire. Indians recaptured a sand dune occupied by Pakistan and lost tens of Para SF soldiers.

Pakistan would also launch multiple post ceasefire offensives of varying magnitudes to capture tracts of lost territory in Kashmir, including in Turtuk, inflicting heavy losses on retreating Indian forces. Otherwise they would silently salami slice tracts of Indian held territory.

Hence, at Simla, India returned thousands of square miles of Pakistani territory in exchange for around a hundred square miles of Indian territory. India would also give up Chamb while retaining Turtuk and the ground positions at the time of the Simla agreement would become the LoC. Siachen was left unmarked.
After PTI, PDM everyone is finding old history to bash Pakistan armed forces.

Although for its size it did its best. Reality is that only in present Pakistan armed force has almost equivalent quantity of conventional weaponry otherwise there was always numerical superiority for India.

Well said fellow member.
Great example of why people need to study history properly. Numbers are not all the thing its also the magnitude.

That was the Air Force, Bajwa was shitting himself.

we let loose east pakistan on purpose
it was planned from the start
powers to be always saw them as burdens and not part of us
panjabi sindi elite never wanted to be associated with bangalis
everything else just played along
there long term objective was just fine loosing east wing

Either way, the efforts of the good men(and women) that led to the creation of Pakistan, to them fighting all odds to help and advance its peoples to the point where Pakistan ceases to exist wont be lost nor forgotten.

Fatima Jinnah will always be remembered as Pakistan’s mother… Suharwardy Sahab as a freedom leader and principled stalwart and so on. Acdre Sajjad Haider as an outstanding fighter leader, Major Aziz Bhatti’s leadership and bravery wont be forgotten,Captain Sher Khan will remain a legend, Edhi will remain name beyond borders, NICVD will continue to treat heart patients with impeccable professionalism inshallah and the many sacrifices of LE and civilians during the WoT will remain.

The land will remain, Pakistan will remain in history for whatever it was… those that will be forgotten like that criminal Rehman Malik were(died as a short footnote obituary) and those who name Allah will choose to keep in history will be there.

the country was hijacked
good people and there sacrifices went to vain
the whole society went into a managed decay
still there isn’t any hope
soo much blood soo much tears went to waste

Nothing is in vain - there are lessons for other peoples , other nations, future generations all around for those that take heed

what is the long term objective now?
its easy to tell everyone after losing more than half the country and losing lots of areas even in the mainland and saying "this was part of the plan"
thats exactly how kids behave after they fall or something silly happens to them

do some research
ask around
meet with people who matter or mattered
do they have even 1% sorrow about loosing east pakistan
but the only thing they r sorry about is military defeat and they only defend that part
the political part or the part where they purposely told them to take a hike and not the pm chair is missed
