Get over it. Why don't you consider whether Pakistan needs to revoke the blasphemy law for Pakistan's own needs, rather than condition doing so upon what you desire from others?

I agree that such laws should not exist, but when was the last time someone murdered another individual for denying the holocaust? How much support did that individual have in Western societies? Was he showered with rose petals? Did Jewish Rabbis issue Fatwas warning against attending his funeral?

have you heard of the story of muhammed bin qasim who invaded sindh because the raja of sindh captured and jailed a muslim lady who never wanted to be the raja sex slave.

No, you cannot ignore this incident and forget it because of what it implies - it shows us that bigotry, hatred and prejudice is on the rise in Pakistan. The people are so knuckle-headed as to resort to deadly violence over political and ideological positions others take.

Taseer's death and the reasons behind it cannot be forgotten, and those who support actions such as those of Taseer's murderer need to be expunged from society - physically or ideologically.

This sorry excuse for a political class has sucked this country dry of all optimism of a better future, cruelly destroying all hope that remained that these cretins could somehow at least steer this great nation away from the economic and political abyss.

At no time has the phrase ‘long-suffering’ been more appropriate. The vast masses are being crushed between the vice of two tiny minorities – both with extreme and dangerous ideologies.

All this bile is lapped up by an incredibly naïve and ridiculously incompetent media class. Responsible journalism seeming like too much hard work, wall-to-wall coverage of this 24/7 fatwa-fest is all our media can ever spew.

Much like his comrades, Salman Taseer found it all too easy to pontificate on Twitter on the issue of the so-called reform of the blasphemy laws from the luxury of Governor House. Typical of the uber-liberal elite, when it came to political drive-by point-scoring from his motorcade, he was the loudest in the room, but when it came to solving the real issues of the people – he could barely manage an insincere whisper.

People tolerated it, but for one of his bodyguards, it was a fatwa too far.

As a nation, Pakistanis are willing to endure exquisite torture at the hands of duplicitous politicians. Runaway inflation? No problem. Rampant bribery? Who cares! Blasphemy against Allah and His Prophet (saw)? No way. Quite right too.

His murder is regrettable, but a result of his political miscalculation. Tolerance can only be stretched so far. Today’s events signalled a limit.

Let them take everything else, our livelihoods, our hope, even our lives. But they should know – even in a land of impurity, at least something must be sacred.

im not asking from you, you a yahudi is asking us muslims to repel the laws instead of removing ur blasphemy laws first...

I think we have to recognize that people, even those who were great thinkers and leaders, are fallible, not perfect.

Opposing Iqbal on the issue of supporting an act of murder by an individual on the basis of so called 'religious sensitivities' is the correct thing to do, and IMO it does not necessarily bring into question his other actions or philosophies.

One could point out several flaws in Jinnah's personal life as well - the manner in which he treated his daughter for example, but that does not take away from his political achievements and the gift of nationhood he gave Pakistanis.

Yes, thats obvious to me.

Is it obvious to the nation of pakistan (meaning its people, armed forces, judiciary, religious leaders, media)?

How do you say after these many decades that Ilm Ud Din was a mere murderer, not a hero of the nation???

The proof of the pudding....?

while i have doubts that for just only saying that the laws were black laws, the guy killed taseer.. taseer must have ignited the feelings of the killer

the western laws are not meant for any death penalties but max is the life sentence, while in pakistan, the death penalties are issues for various reasons..

the jews used the holocaust the reason to establish their country in the east and for denying the holocaust or not, nonetheless innocents are dying there..

Your laws don't offend me. They simply have proved deadly to your fellow citizens. I'm not the party you need to negotiate anything with.

so why are you madly typing every where concerning this topic???

our citizens are dying because of the govt which has failed to provide the security for a common pakistani, and the result is clear, taseer was just like a common pakistani, so what if he is dead, thousands are dying every day, every month???

the issue here is not the law but the law implementing agency itself

What, is there some idea in your head that just because I'm a Jew and not a Pakistani that I can't care about Pakistanis?

our citizens are dying because of the govt which has failed to provide the security for a common pakistani -
Taseer's murder by his own security guard amply demonstrates that "the issue here" isn't one of law enforcement or protection but of ideology as expressed in the Black Law itself.

so you are now questioning our ideology now???

first improve your ideology about your jewish land and let palestinians live in peace..

and being non pakistani you have no rights to term our laws black or what ever..

liberal fascism in full flow.If anyone has any doubts where the vast majority of Pakistanis stand then why not come on the streets and see how many actually turn up.truth is 5% wna impose thr ideas on the remaining 95% well not gna happen.

This thread is not about a liberal fascist killing a pious muslim. That must be some other thread and you posted here by mistake.

Kill every non-Muslim, Taseer called it the Black Law, non-Muslims don't even believe in the entire Islam! They think its fiction. Kill them.

Atheists don't even believe in the existence of God, kill them!

Kill em all, <muahahahhahahaha>
Oh dear Asim dont get emotinal , Muslim or non muslim nobody has a right to act upon vetican , or western influence to talk rubbish like black law to such a law which protects the sanctity and honour of our holy prophet . A cristian woman Aasia was convicted of insulting our prophet by a court of law . She had a right to go to the high court , but , Salman Taseer tried to give her Presidential pardon. Remember ,a presidential pardon to a proven case of blasphemy. Taseer tried to buldose the court of law , he had more soft corner for a convict of blasphemy rather than the law and feelings of local people. If law should have made to be prevailed rather than his illegal interfearance , it would not have happened . Qadri is a killer of protector of people who are proven to be guilty of insulting our prophet . However law will also deal with Qadri and will be treated according to law . It is fair enough.
