5,000 Baloch youth to be inducted in Pak Army in March, 2011

It was also there 20 years ago, only this time we have put in some extra effort, and guess what, you were not on PDF to find it out 20 years ago ;)

Nahin yaar mine was more of an all encompassing comment ! My Phopaa - a Punjabi Settler in Balochistan, has traveled all over Balochistan due to the nature of his work and he swears that he seen places *many of them* where the latest development that came to the People in the last 65 years is a 'hand pump' and sometimes not even that ! What I'm trying to say is that we fail miserably on two fronts - 1) We probably are pretty lousy planners and even worse at their execution ! And 2) We continue to fail to realize that 'perception' counts...! It counts for a lot; a disgruntled Baloch sitting in some obscure village of Balochistan visited by his sardar isn't going to go on a fact finding mission to determine the veracity of the sardar's claims or even that of the BLA etc., he has to practically kill himself at work just to make ends meet ! So when the Sardar says - Yeh Punjabi Khaa Giyaa...ya Woh Pathan khaa giyaaa...ya woh Marri Tribal khaa giyaaa....hes probably going to believe him ! However even in the desert 'word' travels fast and if there were some social welfare projects to speak off that the common Baloch was told about and can see...we'd probably win this war just by changing their perception !

.
I hope quality was maintained - I am highly against quota system through which qualified candidates from Punjab and KPK and barely passing candidates from Sindh and Balochistan get inducted........as for Sindh , per my dad all the sodiers in his Regt from si**dh deserted during 71 war

That's a fact, and no one else other the Govt of Balochistan and Pakistan is to be blamed for it.

Agree 100% , I travelled from Zhob to Bannu on road (essentially drove through many river beds , roads were non-existant) and it looked like I was passing through a different planet

Quota system was required because the kind of 'favors' certain govts of Pakistan have given to Balochistan, it would have taken quite long for them to compete others. This way, we are giving them a jump start.

As for the Sindhis, well things change with time. These days the best soldiers that we have are from Sindh and Balochistan, and i can vouch for it.

Up North from Zohb is not 'real' Balochistan, move a bit to the South and you would be surprised. Not much development there either, but then things are better now. Especially around cities, villages ofcourse are neglected.
