43% indians back Modi as next Prime Minister

I think you are reading my post out of context here.

Unlike RG, Modi is a person attached to the common man b'coz once he was one of them.

He has EARNED his place, he is not there b'coz of his father's, or grandfather's name, but b'coz of his CAPABILITIES.

RG, still shy away from becoming a Minister in GOI let alone the question of becoming a PM.

He targeted UP assembly elections, but again shied away from naming himself as the Congress' CM candidate there (LEADING FROM THE FRONT), & ultimately the Party got only 27 seats out of 400.

But, Modi has shown his skills of Winning elections & winning them Huge, He took the responsibility of entire Guj. campaign of BJP on his shoulders, had the guts to take the full responsibility of a lost if it were to happen.

Add to that his Administrative qualities that he has shown in Gujarat which now world recognizes.

My point was like in a Company or any Organisation, people rise from the lowest positions to higher positions & ultimately becoming CEOs. But every higher position is atleast once a "first timer" for them, but they have EARNED it b'coz of there commendable work in lower positions, same goes for Modi.

But some other Persons don't rise from lower positions & because of there hardwork, they are BORN PMs

I think it is unfair to say that RG has it easy. Everyone keeps on associating him with his family and their cons. He has it pretty tough. Many people willingly are judging him based on those that have ruled before him from his family and all the dirt associated with his family. The other guy, has a fresh plate and an opportunity. For RG it is proving hard to break away from the hatred of the "gandhi rule" as a monarchy in India that many indians seem to hold onto. RG should be given a chance, not to say that the other guy shouldn't. But just seems like people are not looking at RG as an individual.

What has rahul baba achieved in his life up till now which has benefited us Indians?

Unlike MMS he will not remain the "night watchman" either..there would be no two centers of power..

the dichotomy of power and he inability of the PM to assert himself is what is ruining us..

That dichotomy exists with the RSS playing its part. They are only tolerating Modi, they will not make things easy for him. Even the redoubtable Vajapayee faced pressure from the RSS (once even striking off Jaswant Singh's name from the cabinet ministers to be sworn in), Modi will not be any different. The only change will be that unlike MMS, Modi if he were to become PM would be a significant political force to contend with and RSS won't have it easy. Ability to assert himself will depend on how internal politics within the BJP is handled, even Vajapayee never had it his own way & he was a much taller leader, both within the BJP as well as in the country at large.

I have a sinking feeling that UPA will sneak through again. If so, find me an Amreeka husband! lol

Before you find American husband or not, Congress/Sonia clan is making sure to siphon off central funds to Minority in Trillion USDs.
The minority affairs ministry has moved a proposal to the Finance Ministry asking it to explore vehicles of financial instruments which can facilitate interest free financial products, including loans, for the community benefits and allow utilisation of financial assets worth $1.5 trillion in the country banks.

It is not about liking, Politics is about interest.....

See all this assuming that interests of the allies would be in dissonance with those of Modi or central Govt..

Im saying that this might not be the case too..who knows ? Why are we always assuming the negative scenario..?

There is simply nothing to suggest that Modi cant effectively manage a coalition. There is an assumption that to run a coalition that you have to soft and pliable..Not necessarily..you just need to be cunning and wily..that he is.

How different will corruption be under Modi than under MMS? If not much different (personally even MMS is above board), then the change that is sought is not that different from what exists now.

How can you be 100% sure that there will definitely be corruption on the scale as it is now ?

Look the point is simple -

1) he has delivered in Gujarat.
2)The congress has effed up the country.
3) There is simply no alternative to the congress except the NDA
4) There is no better leader in NDA than Modi..

Instead of thinking of a hundred "what-if" scenarios, why not just give him a chance..if he performs, well and good, if he doesnt, what more worse could it get than under the congress.? Lets chuck him out the next time..I dont see the big fuss being made about his coalition management skills and all those small points..

What did RSS do when Modi demolished some 80 Temples in Gujarat?
A false premise is an incorrect proposition that forms the basis of syllogism!

There is absolutely no comparison with MMS relation with Gandhis and Modi relation with RSS..

After a long time he is the first BJP leader who has actually stood upto the sections in VHP and RSS that went against him and made them toe his line. There is no question as to who wears the pant in that relationship..

Plus RSS may be stupid, but they are not that stupid. They know that the cadre of BJP simply root for BJP and the momentum is with him. He will be no pushover and I have no doubt he will stand his ground as and when it requires.

I hope he will not. I am really tired of these scams. To a large extent my generation is totally disillusioned with Congress. It does not help that Bofors and now this helicopter deal, both linked to Italy.

Not as simply as that. No one has accused MMS of being corrupt. We also have St.Antony as defence minister. We still have scams and we will have them in any BJP government. Karnataka is a huge example of how much the BJP has compromised on its principles. Not because there was corruption but because there was no will to deal with it. That doesn't augur well for any government at the center. Anyone thinking that the rest of the BJP is made up of saints is living in a fool's paradise. The only thing the gullible will then do is argue about the extent & nature of corruption, not on the fact itself.

Modi is following the Chinese adage in letter and spirit:

Dig the well before you are thirsty!

Sir you are right. Khane waale to khayenge. But Congress has totally screwed us. Something needs to be done. Nahin to they will think kuch bhi kar sakte hain. And that is much more dangerous than an at worst equally ineffective and corrupt BJP.

You are dishing out yr verbal diareah on BJP scams, without telling us the total value of them. Whereas Congress is involved in 100 billion USD worth of ghotala. And you are selectively silent. You are lopsided.

exactly the point made by @arp2041.

he has to come out if it.but he cant be forced. he always shied from holding any post in GOI. how can he then expect people to look past his family.??

If you believe that, you are deluding yourself. Modi has no proven ability of winning or influencing even a single state outside Gujarat. The RSS controls everyone else, that is enough. Without RSS workers, the BJP knows that they simply cannot run a campaign. He will stand his grounds certainly on some matters but so will the RSS on other matters. There is no question of regional satraps of the BJP bowing to Modi or anyone else. Some of them will actually assert themselves to vis-a-vis Modi & the fact that they come from states with equal or greater number of LS seats will embolden them. Modi is just the first among equals, no one will treat him with reverence like they did Vajapayee or Advani. 5 years from now (if Modi was PM ) might be different, now isn't.

If MMS can be absolved of all sin just because he was personally honest (?) and it was only his ministers who indulged in corruption, then why blame Modi for the 2002 riots when he was personally not involved in it..after all it was only some ruffians on the street..

St.Anthony..who has blacklisted almost every defence manufacturer in the world and almost the defence tenders are stuck in an endless tender-retender cycle..

Chopper scam: Antony’s ‘honesty’ and the perversion of politics | Firstpost

We still have scams and we will have them in any BJP government.

How can you be sure ? I find this cynicism unsettling..Its almost like giving a free pass to the mega corruption of UPA by extrapolating KA as the model of a BJP govt which is simply not true..

Karnataka is a huge example of how much the BJP has compromised on its principles. Not because there was corruption but because there was no will to deal with it.

I would rather take Karnataka as an one-off exception..BJP govts by and large..whether MP or Guj or Goa or Chattisgarh have been bereft of any large corruption allegations..

And the only fault of BJP in KA is its dilly-dallying on the issue of Yeddy..they need to have done what they ultimately did a bit earlier..
