42 top tank fleets based on quality and quantity

Should add T-90S to the list. And the quantity of T-72 should be definetly higher, even during the 2000s a total of 264 T-72s were imported. I would guess the number at 400-500.
OK, I made a little research.

After the fall of USSR Azerbaijan received 286-311 T-72 tanks.
178 were lost during the war, 23 captured.
131-156 tanks.

Russia sold 62 T-72 in 2006-2009.
Belarus sold 19 in 2005.
Belarus sold 41 in 2006.
Ukraine sold 48 in 2006.
Belarus sold 93 in 2010-2012.
------------------
263 total.

This gives about 400 T-72 total.

Also In 2010 was signed 56 mln contract with Elbit to modernize T-72. I guess some 90 tanks will be modernized to Aslan level.

In addition 94 T-90S were bought from Russia with option for another 94.

T-55 are out of service so current Azerbaijan's tank fleet:

94 T-90S
90 T-72 Aslan
320 T-72
--------------------------

If rate Azeri T-72 as 0,5 (because they all have ERA) and T-72 Aslan as 0,8 we get the final score 335. And Azerbaijan climbs to 27th place:

21. Germany - 483
22. Spain - 457
23. UK - 388
24. France - 381
25. Kuwait - 361
26. Switzerland - 355
27. Azerbaijan - 335
28. Italy - 262
29. Vietnam - 261
30. Iraq - 237

@500, PLA Army has more than 30+ Type-99A2 (ZTZ99A2) MBT. :coffee:
The 1st group pics of new ZTZ99A2 in 2012, until now I think China produced 200+ ZTZ99A2.

China

China does not have so many type 59, and my estimation is about 2,000 now. The total number of tanks China owned is about 5,500

I dont think its better. Al Khalid is derived from Type-88 (on pic) which is derived from T-55.

T-90 is derived from T-72 like Type-98. They are more advanced tanks.

Anyway you are free to put any rank u wish and calculate urself its easy.

Why not?

I used data from the IISS Military Balance 2013. There is no Al Zarrar. I would rank it 0.6

According to this article 500 Al Zarrar were built:

Pakistan and China to jointly market Al Khalid tank | defenceWeb

With 330 Al Khalid and 500 Al Zarrar the rank will be 1342.

AK is "derived" from T-90IIM...not type 88 as you "think..

And T-80UDs incorporate T-84 turret and other systems including the gun,FCS,sights etc are european Sagem and Catherine... even engine is different..

As for AZs... according to a recent MoD report almost 600 AZs have been rolled out...

400? akS

325 t-80UdS

500+ AZ

500? Upgraded Type85IIAPs?

Not even counting the ones getting upgraded right now as we speak or even the hundreds of T-59s ,T-60ssss etc.

@500 you are awesome
your threads are a welcome change.

I take it all these tanks you had in mid were the MBT class, you kept light tanks & IFV's out on purpose?

Upgraded Al khalid with 1500hp engine and earlier rumoured tonnage of 54-55tons will make it to production by mid 2015.

Al Khalid is different from T-85, its an upgraded version.

About 300 Al-Khalid tanks were in service with the Pakistan Army as of 2009.
It is based on the Chinese Type 90-II, which combined technologies from several Soviet and Western tanks.
320 Al-Khalid delivered as of 2011, continued production.

Count Al-Zarrar separately. They have modification in terms of armor (add-on composite armour, explosive reactive armour and anti-mine armour), gun (125mm smoothbore gun with chrome-plated, auto-frettaged gun barrel), engine upgraded to 730hp (torque output of 305kgm at 1,300rpm-1,400rpm).
