Yes, BD will be acquiring 24 YAK-130 aircraft.

Hopefully this will lead to dozens of 4th generation fighters like Su-30 and J-10B being ordered for the BD air-force.

Best stick to J-10Bs, the twin-engined SU-30s are going to an absolute b!tch to operate for an AF as small as the BDAF.

I am looking up to 10 years into the future

BD can afford to buy 24 Su-30 and 48 J-10B in the next five years. Another batch of same quantity can be purchased in the five years after that.

With GDP projected to grow nearly 7% a year till 2018, this is affordable.

J-10B is a good fighter but does not have the range or the weapons load of the Su-30. With the SU-30, the BD airforce can provide air-support to it's Navy over major portions of the Bay of Bengal.

They could always come to their brotherly nation India for help

Seriously why not if India is able to offer a good service at a competitive price.

Su-30s are meant to be used against Myanmar anyway so there is no harm in allowing the Indians to service them.

It would be useful against them if it ever came to a confrontation or fight. Better to have the capability there on the off-chance. No-one wants a fight with anyone.

True the YAK-130 would not be able to simulate the J-10B like it could the Mig-29 or SU-30 but it has the capability to train pilots on those generation fighters. BD would be able to buy some J-10B 2 seaters for final training or even send pilots to China to finish their training off. I am not an expert in the area of training but there are always ways round.

Anyway, this is only what I want and no idea if BD will even purchase one more single 4th generation fighter at all this decade the way things are going,

There's little scope for any confrontation. We don't have any territorial disputes with them. The sea issue is already settled. Their focus is on their economic development.

And it would be in Bangladesh's best interest to do business with them. Bangladesh will start importing food items like onions from them starting on January.

What do you mean? The Yak-130 can only simulate specific Russian and Western aircraft. It can even simulate the F-35 and of-course the T-50. Chinese aircraft don't come in its list.

BD/Myanmar trade will be very profitable if both countries truly wish to make a success of it.

They are 5 times larger in land area and have around one-third the population as BD.

Myanmar can be a source of both food, energy(hydro-electric) and natural resource imports for BD. In turn, BD could potentially provide certain products such as pharmaceuticals and consumer goods to their market.

It is madness for a country like BD to want to go to war with them but you should always have options available if the need arises.

Well BD has ordered 24 YAK-130 fighters. The only logical conclusion is that this will lead to a follow-on order for actual 4th generation fighters but who knows. Not sure why, in 2013 by now, no concrete order has been made for any fighters as of now. It is not like BD has no money with an economy of 150 billion dollars growing at 6-7% a year.

I find it thought-provoking that the air-wing of the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier alone will be much more powerful than the whole of the BD air-force. Hopefully someone in the echelons of power has noticed this.

People are ignoring the fact that an aircraft is not just for 40-45m but it comes with extra cost of training, spares, other equipment and technologies...life time support costs, the total price goes to as much as 120-150m.

True this is all speculation.

The J-10B offers performance comparable to Eurofighter/Rafale for around half the initial capital price. When coupled with the probable good finance terms that China may offer BD, then this is the ideal aircraft that BD should buy if offered it.

Probably post 2020 the offer may come by and I don't see why CFTs could not be developed for J-10A/B for long range missions/patrolling apart from IFR either retractable or fixed.
