29 Taliban, 25 soldiers killed in Afghan border clash

Yeah 25 soldiers seems very questionable. If past skirmishes are an indications, it's that most losses are one sided only, not similar in numbers on both sides like in this incident. Be it PA killing dozens of militant and loosing only a few soldiers or militants attacking in hordes on PA check posts and inflicting heavy losses on PA and loosing only a few from their side.

My question to people who have been there, done it. (Icarus etc)

Don't they Taliban take their dead people along with them after a fire has ended (PA stops it op for some reason)?

Or does PA always finish the job such that they don't have enough time to take the dead with them or all are killed?

RIP.Chechens may have been involved.

Chechen fighters are highly trained it may be possible.

The Reporter mixed up .

The Correct Figure Is (According to my sources )

Terrorists Killed = 120 (in a week)
Soldiers Martyred = 25 ( in a week , out of which 17 were beheaded after kidnapping)

They definitively have an unlimited supply of men to sacrifice, makes one wonder what are the underlying causes as to why so many people (mostly young adults) turn to violence in this particular region.

RIP to the dead soldiers.

It is Very Hard to Run in the Rocky Terrains of Waziristan with a weight of a Extra body , specially when you are retreating , or are being chased , you become a easy target for Snipers , Gunships , even Mortars.
So for Terrorist's who most of them dont even know each other and have hardly any moral code , it is not worth Risking your life just to bring a body back.

And how did the kidnapping happened in an active war zone where soldiers are being backed up by airborne and further ground assets?

how can a bunch of yaboos always inflict such heavy casualties on a trained army?
The PA is well trained in conventional warfare, but where CI ops are concerned, the Taliban have the upper hand - better knowledge of the terrain, the advantage of 'mingling with the crowd', hit and run tactics, less requirement of an administrative tail and a high level of motivation due to continuous propaganda and brainwashing.

And how did the kidnapping happened in an active war zone where soldiers are being backed up by airborne and further ground assets?
Ambush of long range patrols, most likely during night. But kidnapping can also happen due to the overwhelming strength of the Taliban attacking and capturing a thinly held post.

The Operation was a Reaction of Kidnapping , More then 600 Terrorists Crossed the border & Assaulted a Check post of Army , 17 were Taken Hostage & then later beheaded , 600 Terrorists Captured 3 peaks & Operation was launched , which continued for 1 week .

29 militants killed in Bajaur Agency - thenews.com.pk

PESHAWAR: At least 29 militants were killed during a security forces operation in the Batur valley of Bajaur Agency.

According to sources, security forces have completed their operation and have rid Batur valley of militants.

A few weeks ago, militants from Afghanistan had taken control of several hilltops in the valley, and the remaining few have now fled following the operation by security forces.

The army casualties obviously occurred during earlier battles and not in the last push when 29 scum bags were wasted. :pakistan:

First and foremost, our condolences go out to the friends and families of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in this cross border incursion. Our nations continue to pay the highest price in fighting terrorism. We’ve already lost thousands of brave soldiers in fighting these terrorists on both sides of the border. It only makes sense for us to work together and negate the threat posed by these terrorists. We restate what Richard Hoagland, the charge d ’affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, said recently: “In this dangerous world where terrorists can strike at any moment, we must all work together – Pakistanis and Americans alike – because we have a strong mutual interest in defeating terrorism.”

Are you referring to the incident where 3 peaks were supposed to be held by a Capt (??), and due to shortage of manpower, he captured only 2, and left the highest and farthest peak un-attended, thus giving the terrorists a opportunity?

17 were kidnapped then? All 3 peaks were overrun rather than just one?

Very reassuring words of wisdom sir, but if the same was complemented by say a squadron of Predators, it would go along way in disqualifying the trust deficit that has prevailed between our two Nations, and i am sure you will agree that after the covert OBL operation, the unforgiving and inexcusable gung ho Salala incident and daily drone attacks....Pakistan is lesser of the two evils, hence, the whole thing sounds like saying......"You can have my car, but i'm not giving it to you". !!
