29 Taliban, 25 soldiers killed in Afghan border clash

...but they waste time on other petty issues and political infighting - focus is lost on what's MOST important to Pakistan.
If the military did its best to allow a fully legitimate democratic government to come to power and pledged allegiance to it as well as the Constitution then Pakistan might not experience these problems to the extent it does today.

They do. But the government continues to renege on its pledges (slogans) and fails to deliver on its duties to the State of Pakistan.

as is evident

Pakistan's Military should just go into Afghanistan with heavy support of Gun Ships and Bomber/Fighter Aircraft, after establishing militant positions, and level them into the ground. Sure, they'll be "collateral damage" -- but that damage is even more so if Pakistan allow's this to continue, and to its own citizens; the people it, by constitution, is binded to protect and serve.

Man, 25,TWENTY FIVE that is tragic.

Can't say the same for the Taliban-they're worse than scum.

It is Very Hard to Run in the Rocky Terrains of Waziristan with a weight of a Extra body , specially when you are retreating , or are being chased , you become a easy target for Snipers , Gunships , even Mortars.
So for Terrorist's who most of them dont even know each other and have hardly any moral code , it is not worth Risking your life just to bring a body back.

True its hard but they do try to get the bodies back when they can.

Can't do that, we will immediately get 'threats' from karzai

Why there is no mulla in street this time as they were when 24 soldier killed in NATO cros border firing ? Is they are less important because they are not fighting NATO, India

NATO, India can't just walk in Pakistan and kill any person opposing them by suicide bomb, abduction and beheading them. At least the way Westerners look won't allow them. Its way easier for Talibani to take out any opposition in Pakistan than India or US.

That is outrageously untrue. When the Pakistani politicians are finishing their first full term in 65 years, that tells you about how much PA has allowed the polity to perform.

It is only now that PA has given space to polity. It is hard to develop accountability in politicians when they have not had to do this in 65 years because of the Army. A trendline that long takes long to change.

The Pakistani polity will evolve in maybe 10-15 years of uninterrupted civilian democracy. The military has never given that long. Hopefully now on...

This is where Pakistan needs armed drones & heavy weight gunship helicopeters. PAF needs to play a major role when fighting against terrorists. The strikes from PAF needs to be heavy on the terrorists.

I hope Pakistan is doing something to purchase Armed Drones from China because Pakistan Army needs them to reduce burden on them.

Holy smokes!

Artillery, gunships, fighter jets?! What the fcuk were the PA fighting? Soviet Union?

I just don't understand how come you guys don't fence your border.

Everytime these loonies always keep shuttling from Pakistan to Afghanistan and back as if they own both the countries.

Why not unilaterally fence the damn border? It is not like you need NATO's clearance for that as it is a standard international border.

This maybe a hard decision due to the Pushtun border communities but it is better than dying soldiers.

Pakistan has offered to fence/mine the border on many occasions but the offer has always been turned down by Afghanistan. Maybe because the DURAND line is not considered a border by some Afghan elements.

Its our fault that we are letting no body to dictate us on what we can and cannot do. Why are we so worried about the Afghans stopping us from doing what we want too. Question is do we really want too in the first place?

well.. its good that the TTP targets and kills more pak sodiers as that will keep them occupied and india relatively peaceful

Sarcasm on...We need more people like you in this world..... Sarcasm off

Security forces declare end of Bajaur operation

KHAR: Following the death of 29 militants, including a top militant commander, security officials have announced the end of an operation in the Batwar area of Salarzai in Bajaur Agency.

The operation was started in response to a militant attack originating from the Kunar province of Afghanistan on August 25, where militants took locals as hostage.

Security forces launched the operation in the area with the help of Salarzai peace militia, using heavy artillery and gunships against the militants.

Thousands of locals migrated from the area and took shelter in state-run schools and hospitals as the operation raged on.
The militants fought for more than 10 days, kidnapped some security personnel and killed them, but subsequently evacuated the area.

Following their pullout, the troops entered the area to start de-mining since there is a substantial risk of stray improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The FATA disaster management authority and other non-government organizations, meanwhile, made camps for the displaced people and provided food and shelter.

The political administration in Bajaur, meanwhile, has organised the local peace militia to fight against the militants, in case they strike again.

The displaced people can return to their homes after security forces declare them clear, said a political administration official in Bajaur.
