The Houthi's are a tiny sect/movement/cult or whatever one should call it which emerged less than 25 years ago in a small province of Northern Yemen called Saada.

The Zaydi Yemenis who make up around 40% of the population of Yemen have nothing to do with them and most are against them. We are talking about a movement with no more than 50.000 members and supporters.
What people fail to understand in this unfortunate conflict is that KSA and the Coalition is not only fighting against the Houthi's but large segments of the Yemeni army which are loyal to the Ali Abdullah Saleh crook and tribes loyal to him or which have been bribed by his network.
Ali Abdullah Saleh was a Yemeni dictator who ruled for over 30 years in Yemen. He is a Zaydi himself from the North but he (as President and Commander of the Yemeni army) fought against the Houthi's numerous times.

I warn you, Yemen is extremely complicated. Probably only second to Iraq if not more of all the Arab countries in terms of conflict/unrest/recent history.
Since they emerged in the early 1990's after Yemen's unification to Operation Scorched Earth which occurred a mere 5 years ago. Ironically Saleh and KSA were on the same side fighting the same Houthi's that this horrible man has now allied with.
Yemen ex-leader Saleh 'amassed up to $60bn' - UN probe - BBC News
As he ruled Yemen for over 30 years he developed an extremely sophisticated network in Yemen where he bribed almost all the major tribes but played opponents against each other. After he was removed mostly peacefully during the protests in Yemen (which I have covered extensively) when the so-called "Arab Spring" emerged the House of Saud foolishly hosted him. This despite the fact that KSA told him to step down after the protests as he had everyone against him back then. He never forgave that it seems and never accepted that he got removed.
He and his friends are basically the ones who have caused this misery. The Houthi's are just used as cannon fodder. They have their movement but their only core supporters of that movement are found in small Saada.
In reality most Yemenis are not satisfied with any fraction in Yemen. The story of our "fantastic" Muslim world of late.
