MUMBAI: The Special Branch of the city police arrested 21 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants, including nine women, who were employed in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai as labourers, police said.

The police conducted raids at Rey Road, Mankhurd and Navi Mumbai's Kalamboli areas and caught the illegal immigrants. "We have been working to trace the illegal immigrants. The accused have been arrested," said a police source.

Last year, the total number arrests of Bangladeshi illegal immigrants went up to 1400. On December 1, raids were conducted in different parts of the city when 57 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants were apprehended, police said adding that during their interrogation, they revealed that many more from their country lived in neighbouring Thane district without valid documents.

Accordingly, raids were conducted in the next five days, when 195 illegal immigrants were nabbed from Thane district's Mira road, Naigaon, Bhayinder, Nalasopara and Kharghar areas, said deputy commissioner of police (Special Branch) Sanjay Shintre. Among the arrested, 56 were females and 64 were children, police said adding that all the accused either work as labourers. Police said that once formalities in a particular case are completed, the batch is taken to Kolkata. From there, BSF escorts them to the Bangladesh border, police added.

polevaulters...

and thats the sad fact that due to corruption in BSF,these suc*ers cross border with little or no difficulty.

India is a poor overpopulated country and illegal immigrants is a drain on our country and one more impedement in our growth and quest to provide welfare to all.

Indian govt should do more.

Sell these illegal immigrants to Arab countries and money will be used to buy bullets to shoot Bangladeshi smuggler who regularly steal cattle from poor Indian villagers.

Poor indian villagers sell their cattle. Thats a fact. They do not wish to care for no more useful cattle but have no other options than to sell to smugglers as legally that can't be done.

While I'm against smuggling, shooting smugglers is no solution.

I think many of them are living around Khar Road station especially near the locomotive maintenance dipo. They are also in front of Bandra Terminus. I don't know exactly but there dress sense & language seems like that. Can some one inform concerned authorities s that they can verify their identities. No is pretty much same now, earlier it was very less but increasing very fast.

Yesterday another 39 got caught in west bengal on their trip to Bengaluru:D

Who told both countries are just same? Job opportunities in major cities are much much more than BD.

because they buy cattles aka Cows from Indians hence they have to cross over by paying bribe to BSF if they dont then BSF shoot them dead.

Job opportunities.Lots of construction work goes on here in India and these Bangladeshi immigrants mainly work as daily labourers there.Apart from that a large number of Bangladeshi girls work as maids or prostitutes in the red light areas.
