15 militants killed in fresh Bajaur offensive

KHAR: Security forces on Monday launched a major assault against militants in different areas of Mamond and Salarzai subdivisions in Bajaur Agency, killing 15 insurgents.
At least 22 persons, including six members of a family, were injured in the daylong action. Security forces also destroyed several positions, bunkers and three training centres of the militants. Twenty-six insurgents also laid down arms and surrendered to security forces in Mamond Tehsil.
Tribal sources said that security forces backed by artillery, tanks and fighter planes heavily-shelled suspected hideouts of the militants, killing 15 militants and injuring 16 others while several hideouts, bunkers and three training centres were destroyed.
