Featured 10 soldiers martyred, 1militant killed and 3 apprehended when BLF attacked military check post in Balochistan's Kech district

I could count 32 in the picture which might cover a single frame only. Imagine a force of this size roaming in the mountains, along the ridgelines and valleys. Imagine the assault being coordinated between various cells using comm links (zero capability of signals intelligence to detect, identify the origin/destination of signals, and pass on that intelligence to kinetic elements). There is so much wrong here.

Not even the best tactics can win a war when the strategy sucks.

If you consider long range surveillance why not thinking about long range foot patrols from every bigger post, base, Camp. Every Station be it post, checkpoints, camps, bases Headquarters, should form long range foot patrols Teams.

„They would often venture miles and miles into deep enemy territory. Living off the local plant and wildlife. Becoming self sufficient in order to gain intelligence on enemy“

For this purpose, QRF should have a beeline to ground zero, not a bumpy , IED ridden ride through the treacherous mountains...
Most importantly, what was such an isolated post doing in the middle of nowhere?? A mere handful of soldiers can't really go on the offensive from there, instead would just be watching there backs all the time.

Not much cover. Rapid deployments require mobility. The enemy holds advantage in ambushing troops. Counter to that is heliborne TFs to quickly annihilate enemy before they attack or retreat. Lure enemy, bait through ground forces. Wait for enemy to take positions while scanning through eyes in the sky, and then rain hell on verified targets.

I have posted several times. Blain2 has said almost the same thing in previous pages and PK has tried to explain it too.

I won’t copy paste old posts. Baluchistan is a sensitive issue, a ground ops like in Kpk won’t be easy here. Secondly it’s bigger than KPK. More resources of all kinds are required including intel and surveillance. The lower tier LEAs like levies or constabulary should be trained on lines of FC to conduct all kinds of Ops. MRAPs are needed for patrolling but static posts being attacked means massive firepower should be available to thwart attacks. Heavy caliber weapons above 12.7 mm for defence but logistics and ordinance planning is required. Not all posts can accomodate such weapons.

LEAs conduct raids but not all raids are made public due to security reasons. Loss of life of soldiers is very unfortunate. FC wing commanders should be held accountable for every action whether offensive or defensive undertaken by their wings. FC is border patrolling force turned into AT/COIN force. PA regulars and FC does conduct joint raids and Ops but some Ops aren’t even mentioned to civil bureaucrats in Quetta. Police is also not involved sometimes since news travels fast in every nook and corner of the province.

12 Corps main task in 80’s was to contain a Soviet invasion. Later it was tasked to assist 5 Corps. Then it took part in COIN Ops. Now FC is in the forefront while LCB has been formed to protect Army installations against terrorist attacks. 44 LID sits in south to protect Chinese investment. Increase Intel resources on ground, get lower tier LEAs on same pattern as FC. Give Baluchi people a genuine feeling that they are Pakistanis and their rights are protected and served by government. Manage the province through civil bureaucracy rather than a military operation to quell BLA/BRA involvement in public. The local government in all districts of Baluchistan need to get actively involved rather than deploying uniformed soldiers in streets like it’s a martial law in Baluchistan. Not all solutions are solely military. The provincial government has to play its part more than FC and Army.

„static posts“

Then why this static posts don’t become flexible and mobile ?

Die f IED is so dangerous and MRAOS are not available, why the troops of this posts do not scouting and patrol their commanded area ? If every post and every base would do that imagine, enormous penetration of enemies lines.

Static to show presence. But QRF should be mobile.

Static, the troops must have the flexibility to become mobile ! And they must patrol and scout their area ! Pakistan is doing that also at LOC !

I don't get it. How many Pakistani soldiers would have to die before our state would do anything about these terrorists in Balochistan

COAS is busy having meeting with Michael Oven while large scale attacks against check posts are happening continously in the largest province of the country. He is meeting former footballer instead of doing his job

Why Pakistan is such an impotent state? Why? Kahan sai aayi hai yeh buzdali? Kia buzdali hai yeh?

COAS is an asshole..

Strategy being?

Failed* Strategy being...

Let the poor chaps on patrols and in checkposts at or around the borders die as long as cities are relatively safe.

Shun intel modernization and reform so we have no sophisticated way to raise the cost for RAW/Doval's operations (e.g., fear of consequences, tit-for-tat attacks, threats that can actually be followed up, etc.)

Stay defensive and follow a non-sensical denial based strategy that even Doval acknowledges was India's mistake for decades since it simply doesn't work. The only thing that works is pressure and introducing heavy costs for actions. All else is bullshit.

Failed strategy keeps the country relatively unstable but has no negative impact on DHAs and pensions/perks/privileges/plots of general officers. Hence it stays.

If you consider long range surveillance why not thinking about long range foot patrols from every bigger post, base, Camp. Every Station be it post, checkpoints, camps, bases Headquarters, should form long range foot patrols Teams.

Insurgencies and terrorist movements with foreign support cannot be defeated, especially in difficult terrain and with porous borders (fencing doesn't change that much), without raising the cost for the foreign backers of the insurgency.

All tactics by "strategists" on PDF revolve around domestic measures whereas the very foundation of deterrence theory and strategic stability is based on the fear of consequences. If the enemy has none (i.e., if Doval and RAW believe they can keep supporting proxies that kill our men, women, and children with minimal personal and national consequences for them, then we are essentially rolling out the red carpet for them).

The ONLY thing that can work is when they know the same will happen in India (proper --- not just IOK, even though we sadly can't even achieve tit-for-tat in IOK, which used to be our backyard). Without fear of consequences, no playground bullies stop. No amount of hollow threats can help (like "befitting response" or "don't mistake our restraint for weakness.") Nobody 'mistakes' it for anything --- if you're having to 'clarify' this, you've already lost.

People need to understand how power really works and flows.

My 2c. Peace.

Sometimes you need or want a big ole, hit me on a post with a Target printed on it...

Come hit me is a tactic if you can Inflict heavier pain on raiding party...
It's like an eyesore deep in conflict zone to Lure guys... you don't want to chase..

But, in this case... guys here seemingly hit and Inflict more damage to these static targets, called bases.

We need ISI to infiltrate these terrorists deeply and all our soldiers should have drone escorts day and night 24/7/365.

Accha, good suggestion. But right now they are busy with trying to prove IK is a Ghadar, besides that those lowly level soldiers level dying seems to fit right into generals strategy of hiding behind bodies of their soldiers to quash all criticism against their destruction of Pakistan.

My thoughts exactly. It is the strategy of post rush, like keep building posts after posts and slowly creep towards the epicenter of enemy activity. Much similar to US firebases in Vietnam, but those bases were virtual fortresses designed to soak in waves after waves. If Pakistan wants to wrest control of vast Baluchistan territory back, it needs to essentially create a few doomsday bunkers, where vast number of defending troops can hunker down for months if need be.If we have such strong fortifications, PAF and PAA could take their own sweet time and provide danger close support when they can. And of course such based could act as ELINT pickets to support offensive ops as well.

The number of FC troops manning a post vary. Even if they have a vehicle to become mobile, a QRF is still required. The troops should know that they have back up- whether ground or air.

ISI is doing it since ages but its not only ISI's responsibility. Other Intel agencies have AORs too along with officers deputed on scanning certain cells.

Posts, not bases really. If you have ideas how FC and Levies should be deployed, write a detailed plan to MOI.
