Indian deputy consul general arrested in US on visa fraud charges

its not abut nanny or kids its status symbol now a days her pay was 4000$ per month and she have to manage it in this money rather then commit a crime .

It is not a crime by Indian Law, and she has diplomatic immunity from US laws. What part of that do you not understand ?

Indian diplomat arrested in US for alleged visa fraud, handcuffed in public | NDTV.com

Sangeeta Richard has alleged that she was to be paid $ 4,500 per month according to the employment contract furnished for her visa, but Ms Khobragade later changed it to $ 537 a month. She also complained that she was forced to work more than 40 hours a week.

Ms Khobragade's lawyers argue that with her own salary of $ 4,000 a month, she can hardly pay her help more than that. They also said her arrest on the street, without being given a chance to explain, was "shocking and unprecedented."

China, a country 5 times as rich as India, pays her diplomats from several thousands yuan to slightly more than 10000 yuan, i.e. less than 2000 USD a month.

Yet India pays her middle-ranking diplomat(a deputy consul general can hardly be termed a senior diplomat) 4000 USD a month? For What?

India is indeed a country where the poors have none and the few privileged have all。

Preet Bhahara, United States Attorney who said that such fraud by foreign nationals will not be tolerated is an Indian American from Firozepur.

He is not an Indian American, he is an American Indian.

He was only born in Firozepur but grew up in New Jersey and did his schooling in Tinton Falls. He is as American as they come.

indian law ? lolz if she had immunity she was not arrested

Are you stupid ? She was arrested, but she cannot be kept in Jail and she certainly cannot be tried by US court unless Indian govt. gives permission to do so.

I am defending a lady who is working in a foreign land to safeguard larger Indian interests. The only shame is the illegal and unfriendly action by the US govt.

None of the Nanny's Indian rights were violated, only her rights granted by US constitution is violated. If US wants to grant citizen ship to the Nanny they can do so, but they certainly cannot touch Indian consulate members.

There are no takers for your fake outrage and propaganda. Get a life.

An American Indian is a native American.

Well this person is a native American except for his aberration in birth place. No need to give him Indian colors.[/

When I said native American I meant a Red Indian. A Red Indian is called an American Indian or a native American.

IFS officer admits owning two flats on ‘govt land’ - Times Of India

MUMBAI: Devyani Khobragade, an Indian Foreign Service officer and daughter of former BEST GM Uttam Khobragade, told the judicial commission probing the Adarsh case on Thursday that she owned two flats in buildings that were constructed on land allotted by the government.

She became a member in Adarsh in 2004. A year later, she acquired a flat in Meera Cooperative Society in Oshiwara, which was constructed on land allotted by Mhada. Asked whether her father was connected with Mhada during his career, she replied: "Yes. He was Mhada's managing director, but I do not remember the year." She said she sold the Oshiwara flat in 2008 for Rs 1.9 crore.
