Pakistan has publicised a recent VIP demonstration of its Hatf 9/Nasr single-stage solid-propellant short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) as a potential counter to India's Prahaar SRBM. Both missiles were first flight tested in 2011.
The Pakistani demonstration was conducted on 5 November 2013, and involved the salvo firing of four Hatf 9 missiles. It was watched by an audience that included the Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the Director General of the Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General (retired) Khalid Ahmed Kidwai, the Chairman of the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM), Muhammad Irfan Burney, and Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani.
