Tata Motors drives into Indonesia

400 companies bigger than TATA?? in vehicle manufacturing?? do you have a list? and what's WIE?

So only vehicle manufacturing is "big company"? And only vehicle manufacturing can post here?

India only has 6 companies in Fortune 500, but China has 73 and Japan has 69.
If Chinese member or Japanese post everything like "lenovo enter thailand" or "Sony enter Malaysia" here, "world affair" will be a garbage dump.

Well done TATA.

Apart from all mentioned things, some @$$es are also catching fire very quickly here :flame:

Lol... post of the week !!!

What a shame. I hope our Indonesian brothers come to their senses, expel these Indian trinkets, assert their regional presence, boost their domestic automobile industry (like Electric cars, SUVs, electric bus, and other automotive projects that have already been undertaken by various Indonesian institutes) and become one of the top powers in the world which could act as a bastion of peace and justice around the region and beyond.

You mean like BANGLADESH.

Why all the Bangladeshis talk like they belong to a first world country..They bloody get on boats and immigrate to UK , US and spread their stink there.

If you cant make a single two wheeler then how can you talk about a company which makes land rovers..

Insignificant low lives & poor attention seekers. They remember me the ugly girls who makes up with crap body moves to get attention by guys in a dance bar/pub.

You got a point there, but it's a new achievement and most members here are from the Sub continent and all these members I believe know about TATA's which was there before India partitioned as well. Such news gives inspiration not only to other Indian companies but also probably Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Sri Lankan companies as well.

Tata Motors Sets Ambitious Plan for Indonesia | The Jakarta Globe

Tata plans to introduce Tata Nano, dubbed as the world’s cheapest car, to the Indonesian market.

The four-seat passenger car was released in India in 2009 with a $2,500 price tag. The Nano, together with 13 more cars from Tata’s line, will be shown at the Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta from Sept. 20 to 30.

Tata Motors reported consolidated revenue of $32.5 billion in the 2011-2012 financial period.

Tata Motors is also the world’s fourth-largest truck and bus manufacturer. It has operations in Britain, South Korea, Thailand, Spain and South Africa.

Another Tata Nano catches fire

Mon 26 Sep, 2011

Tata NanoIt could be another dent to the Tata Nano safety issue. It was reported that a brother-sister duo had a close escape on Saturday night after the Nano car in which they were travelling caught fire in New Delhi.

The reports stated that the incident took place near ITO at around 8:15 PM. Nishant (25), a student, and his sister 35-year-old sister Suman were going to Connaught Place from their Krishna Nagar residence when the incident took place. The two smelled smoke emanating from the vehicle and got out of the car, police said, adding that soon the fire engulfed the vehicle. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the flames in 15 minutes. The two escaped unhurt.

It can be recalled that even earlier several incidents of Tata Nano catching fire had been reported which had severely dented the Tata Nano safety image and had also affected sales. Afterwards Tata Motors had announced that though there were no problems with the car, they will provide service.

lol... ur digging out a news from 2011 tata has already launched new generation nano called nano 2012 which don't catch fire..

Indonesia car market will surpass India next year. So every one want to enter this potential market.

And I don't think this is worth "world affair".
There are more than 400 companies bigger than Tata, so everyone of them enter a new market worth talk about here? Such as WIE enter Vietnam or Philippines?

By what mean you are saying that they will surpass India??
In production india is now 6th and is expected to be 3rd by 2017. It is expected to take over south korea by early 2013 In sales India is well at 4-5. Indonesian production is 1/6 of India. Maybe be in sales they can rival us, but I dont think soo. They are too behind.

It would be great to have Indian automobiles export to Pakistan as well. There are 2 markets that we need to capture - Pakistan and BD.

They will provide great economies of scale to Indian companies even if the volumes in both these countries is low, because the cars can be loaded off the factories and rolled directly into these companies - the cost will be almost the same as they are for states like WB and Gujarat.

We need to have these two countries open up their Auto sector pronto. Most important is Pakistan owing to greater volume, then BD.

Don't know about Pakistan.

But in BD, Indian commercial vehicles do pretty good. Tata ACE has done very well here.

But for private cars......some serious marketing required to compete against those Japanese cars. It is not due to product quality that Indian cars don't grab much of the private car market. It's poor marketing.

Good news.

I see the 'Union of Stranded Pakistanis' has opened an office on the thread.

Owweeyyy....

6 out of 200000 is not a bad number
when you compare it with others like Toyota whose innova mpv has had its share of fire incidents , but numbers were like 1 in 50000

Japanese cars are tough competition for every auto maker, but then there are few pluses that other car makers can add, major being is cost and localized servicing and spare parts.

Can't believe Indonesia would accept TATA motors. They should go with Chinese cars. They are much better.

When britishers can sell thir prestegious jaguar to TATA, then Pakistan and Indonesia kya cheez hai. Last year jaguar made a profit of 2 billion from euro market. They accepted kafir cars with pleasure.

Anyways get ready for tata buses and cars to roll all over pakistan once your govt opens auto sector for Indian companies.
