With commercial launch slated to begin next year, the carmaker is also looking to set up a manufacturing base.
In the coming months, Tata Motors badged vehicles will be seen on the streets of Indonesia, one of the largest automobile markets in the whole of Southeast Asia. After having announced its entry into both passenger and commercial vehicle markets, the company has set up a wholly owned Jakarta-based subsidiary in the name of Tata Motors Indonesia.

As per Tata Motors’ research, the customer needs and working conditions are very similar to those in India, which is why the company is looking to make a strong impact in the growing Indonesian market. With commercial launch of the products slated to begin in 2013, the carmaker is busy making extensive preparations for the big launch.

If we go by the company’s timeline, by the time of the launch in somewhere around 2013, Tata Motors Indonesia will have about 10 to 15 dealers nationwide, offering sales, service and spare parts. In the next three years, the company plans to set up a network of about 60 dealers, 100 workshops and about 300 more spare parts retailers across the whole Indonesia.

Aside from the expansion in terms of dealer network and after sales service, Tata Motors is also evaluating options for setting up a manufacturing base in Indonesia for which significant investments are also been planned.

Tata already has a presence in Thailand. Tapping such developing markets is the key before becoming a true global company

Another Tata Nano catches fire

Mon 26 Sep, 2011

Tata NanoIt could be another dent to the Tata Nano safety issue. It was reported that a brother-sister duo had a close escape on Saturday night after the Nano car in which they were travelling caught fire in New Delhi.

The reports stated that the incident took place near ITO at around 8:15 PM. Nishant (25), a student, and his sister 35-year-old sister Suman were going to Connaught Place from their Krishna Nagar residence when the incident took place. The two smelled smoke emanating from the vehicle and got out of the car, police said, adding that soon the fire engulfed the vehicle. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the flames in 15 minutes. The two escaped unhurt.

It can be recalled that even earlier several incidents of Tata Nano catching fire had been reported which had severely dented the Tata Nano safety image and had also affected sales. Afterwards Tata Motors had announced that though there were no problems with the car, they will provide service.

What a shame. I hope our Indonesian brothers come to their senses, expel these Indian trinkets, assert their regional presence, boost their domestic automobile industry (like Electric cars, SUVs, electric bus, and other automotive projects that have already been undertaken by various Indonesian institutes) and become one of the top powers in the world which could act as a bastion of peace and justice around the region and beyond.

If you cant make a single two wheeler then how can you talk about a company which makes land rovers..

More like get on their ladders and illegally immigrate to India. These low-lives would rather be shot by the BSF when risking their lives and crossing the border into India than live in that hell-hole m00llah republic called bangladesh.
