During the Crown Prince's visit to Seoul and in the presence of the Korean President
General Authority for Military Industries Signs MoU with Korea Defense Acquisition Program
During the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense to the Republic of Korea.
The Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), Eng. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Ohali, signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea's Defense Procurement Program (DAPA) Minister Wang Jong-hong to develop a general framework for cooperation between the two sides in military acquisitions, industries, research and military technologies.
The ceremony was held at the Presidential Blue Palace in Seoul, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Korea, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and members of the official delegation accompanying him and senior officials of the South Korean government.
His Excellency the Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries said that the signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of strengthening industrial and defense partnerships between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Korea.
He pointed out that the memorandum will contribute to the development of military acquisition capabilities, including the acquisition mechanism, the development of military industries, the development of specifications and standards for military products and the requirements of manufacturers' qualification and control, as well as the examination, evaluation and acceptance of military products, research and development and technology in the military field.
The signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of the efforts of the General Authority for Military Industries aimed at localizing the industry and the sustainability of the qualitative military systems in the Kingdom according to the vision of the Kingdom 2030 of the objectives and the Kingdom's endeavor to develop the military industries sector.
It is worth mentioning that the General Authority for Military Industries aims at localising military industries in Saudi Arabia and achieving the national priorities of raising military readiness, enhancing strategic independence, enhancing joint operation between the security and military authorities, developing a sustainable domestic military industries sector and increasing transparency and efficiency of spending.
