China Developing a Train That Will Run at 620 Miles Per Hour

The infrastructure may be expensive but never under estimate the energy savings of a high speed train in vacuum tunnel. I'll dig up a past paper on this.

r u people crazy, just $ 3million more per km:woot:,this is going to b damn costly,i am not undermining ur success but what is the need of such a transport which will prove to much costly

This is actually nothing.

In Western countries it costs nearly 1 billion for around 5 kilometers of subway (Toronto, Sheppard line). In other words around 250 million per kilometer. And nobody uses it and nobody likes it. If it was over ground it might be cheaper due to lack of digging but would probably be more expensive due to need to buy land.

You underestimate the cost of worker safety. It literally takes millions and millions just for a few feet of rail. If you don't understand why look at the history of railroad construction and see it is a very dangerous occupation with workers dying every day.

I know how easy and fun there is for everyone to take a swing at CapCat, but let's not give CapCat the satisfaction by derailing this thread farther.

Stay on topic.

Captain america, now that I think about it, it's a bit weird that the first source that you went to get that bike picture from has an .in domain, surely you can also easily find it on .com domain unless that is a site you are quite familiar with.

just curious.
Anyway, carry on.

Nice observation...

err.. may be a silly question, vacuum implies no air - how are the passengers going to breath?

Is that what is cost us? F'ing hell aren't we the suckers...

Pressurized cabins like an airliner.

And if you're transporting freight you might not even need air in the compartments.

Only concern if when you have those bottles with the press down button to squeeze the liquid out (like some shampoo bottle) that is not fully enclosed. If there are already air inside the container then as the pressure drops the liquid inside will flow out. Happened to me on the recent flight  (luckly it was inside a plastic bag)

I think we need to make sure enough air is available for the duration of the trip. Possibly need some compressed air and carbon dioxide recycling technology. Also may need to refresh the cabin at stations.
