JF-17 is 0.8 meter short in length than F-16 and 1.4 m than J-10. However redesigning the frame can accommodate the WS-10G engine and more hardpoints.

No it cannot ! ... adding an engine of the dimensions of the WS-10 would result in a complete redesign and as such in de facto a new aircraft.

Block 4 should have WS-10G engine with TVC and stealth coatings.

An aircraft in the size to fit the WS-10 already exists ... there's no need to develop a ne one: It's called J-10.

I agree, what JFT need a is 2 chin Hardpoints to carry pods. and that is it.

Thanks for your reply and in all honesty; I have some serious issues with such statements as posted above by other members.

I do always wonder how one can come up with such strange ideas and find them quite annoying ... in fact it's a childish level to assume such things. As if designing and building an aircraft would be so much easy ... like some sort of plug & play. You take a larger engine since it sounds so good and that's it?? :hitwall::crazy:

Name me any example, where an aircraft of a given design was up-scaled to fit a larger engine (in fact a substantially larger one, not only a variant of a given one like the F-16).

Anyway,
Deino

More important is time line for JF17 program

Block 3 fulfillment will be around 2022 after that block 1 needs MLU along with block 2 considering all odds it will take another 3 -5 years to go if so any chance o block 4 it will be 2025 beyond by that time our 5th Gen is ready ,I strongly reject the notion of building more than 150 planes and lets move to 5th Gen after that
No..... AS we have pointed out several times, we are looking at approx 250-300 not stopping at 150.
Block 3 will most likely be continued for 100 if not more but in incremental improvements - Kaizen. There is a long runway to go; this is just the beginning. You cannot stop the process of improvement; it is part of the lifecycle.

According to ACM Sohail Block 3 configuration has been finalized. Although that configuration has not been made public, information from various sources provides a reasonable idea/guess about it. Perhaps it is time to start thinking beyond that now. Start mind storming about requirements/wish-list as to what enhancements should be made /can be made for a block-4 of JF-17. Stuff that could not be achieved with block-3 for whatever reason.

What do you guys think? Please share your thoughts.

P.S. Please keep it real. No stealth JF-17 art work please. If lockheed didn't transform the F-16 into a stealth plane yet, PAC/CAC aren't doing it either.
You are right and it took at least 3 years to finalized the concept and by that time all block 3 will be role out

the process has started and like said its time to move on from baby steps to giant leaps ,there is no point in producing obsolete tech and keep them for 25 years means 2050 it will be like crop duster ,Kamra vision is to produce 5th Gen and 2025 is the starting point to let go F16A/B MLUs so think in this way

Hi,

What readers need to understand---the design and changes for the BLK3 were settled between 2-4 years ago---.

Could there be an actual frame be present at this time---absolutely---.

Has there been a decision on the blk 4---pretty much---the design changes are already on the paper----.
