What's new

China and Pakistan will make a very attractive offer to Egypt regarding the JF-17

JF17 in block 1/2

is better than F7P/PG & mirage 3/5 & MIG21/MIG27 jaguars

JF17/1/2 is inferior to the Falcons in PAF the mki the ugraded mirage2000/5 & mig29k/smt

its lacks on these over TWR load radar and EW suites and more combat proven weapons

TWR load radar?

EW suite? Is Spanish INDRA good nough?

Combat proven weapons? Lmao.. we are talking about missiles and stand off weapons.. not INSAS or nirbhay failures.

JF Block I/II are on the same level as Gripen C.

IF AND WHEN the block 3 comes

And

The block 3 includes
New more modern engines with more TWR and range
new quarduplex FBW SYSTEM
MORE composite built airframe to reduce weight
Adds HMD and European or USA HOBS missles
Aesa radars
New EW suites
Ram coating to reduce RCS
new BVRS from other sources than china

Then we have a fighter in the same league as Gripen E & F16

But to add the above to Thunder will increase UNIT cost to Double todays prices

Block III will be comparable the Gripen NG.

Is this cockpit for JF 17 block 2 or 3?
It looks like a simulator, look at the left side, you'll see a pinkish-red floor.. it looks the same as the real one: This one for Blk 1! 2014

Saudis can't dictate a Masri.
With all the available options to Egypt, only reason of opportunity JF-17 has is offering partial local assembly and all the flexibility it brings.
Saudis themselves might go for up to 120 JF-17s with full production in KSA..most likely with different specs for the engines (but if we think about the much better relations between KSA and Russia now, even the engines might be Russian or Chinese ones..), and avionics (although serious sources from KSA said that Saudi Arabia was quite impressed by the level of technologies found on the avionics of Blk 2), So they will most likely like blk 3, but they may both (KSA and Egypt) start by producing blk 2.. depending on what Pakistan and China will tell them about the modifications to blk 3, if it is possible, they may go for it, if not that easy, then they will wait for blk 3..
One has also to take in consideration the potential production and sales of the F-17 made in Egypt and KSA to other Arab states in the GCC and most of the Arab world who have shown genuine interests for the JF-17.. and obviously all the profits will be shared with Pakistan and China.. it is a win/win situation at all levels, the production of around 220 fighters and the potential sales of another 200 fighters..

If you have good relation with then you can discuss with them relative issues so first make friends so they will oblige you you can't make everyone enemy

and most importantly Egypt is Part of Saudi alliance and they are friendly with Israel. Egyptian jets maybe fielded against Iran or Qatar( less likely).

but I agree, Egyptians are best of the bunch compared to rest of the Arab forces.

Syrians have got some good combat experience under their belt from the civil war too.

Guys, a lot of you are forgetting the basics. Jf-17 was never meant to compete with top end aircraft. It was meant to replace the lower end aircraft. Virtually no air force in the world can afford to replace every aircraft in their inventory with the latest super duper aircraft. There will always be a need for a low-cost aircraft doing the mundane tasks.

JF-17 can do a lot more than mundane tasks. It's as capable as many other fighter jets, such as the F-16, MiG-29, Gripen, Tejas, etc. The JF-17 ' s main advantage over the bunch is that it's cheaper.

Block 3 is going to be a much higher aircraft from the way things appear. It will have an AESA radar and be significantly superior to the current F-16 block 52+ fighters of the PAF (arguably the most potent fighters in the region).

IMO US and EU will never let go Saudi`s ,reasons being strategic e.g most recent announcement of coalition of Islamic countries and Gen Raheel to lead where is it now ? its all being dissolved clear fault lines emerged after Qatar crisis . US who have been the sole benefactor in US /KSA relationship just signed a massive 360 Billion US$ deal for weapons in next decade from a budget of 60 Billion $ that is more than 55% straight going to US , KSA will never have JF17 IMO as they are pretty much cash strapped with next decade purchases only way i see thunder in KSA will have PAk troops stationed with JF17 being the ground support element ,Just my 2 cents

Nothing is being dissolved, the Islamic coalition against terrorism is still embryonic and one of its main aims in fighting terrorism is to cut its financing, something we are witnessing now as we talk with the Qatar affair..
As for the JF-17, KSA won't be satisfied with your solution, it is not $2 to $4 billion dollars that can stop it from getting a production line for the Sino-pakistani fighter and improving on it or changing some specs..

please spare me the usual BS geo-political commentary
Myanmar is slaughtering Rohaniyas like cattle. All Pakistan can do is sell them JF-17s

Egypt will ask for a production line setup in Egypt. I am not sure if China will honor Egyptian request

What is India doing? Does India judge the value of human life on the basis of what religion they believe in? If anything, India is the one country with the highest stakes in this issue as it is the largest player in that region.

Pakistan has direct stakes in our own region and is dispensing its duties most ably by supporting the struggle of Kashmiris. India should accept its responsibilities and help the Rohingyas who are being slaughtered right at your door step.

Why would Saudi go for JF-17? It is a short-legged fighter that has a small weapons load.

Current Saudi inventory is F-15 and Eurofighter. They are much larger fighters with longer range and weapons oad suitable for the vast Saudi airspace

The largest player in Myanmar is China. Direct your commentary there
Myanmar is not a SAARC member. They are an ASEAN member.

India has tried to convince Myanmar to respect human rights in the past and failed.

I'm sorry but either you are ill-informed or else deliberately misleading. India is the BIGGEST player in Myanmar. India shares its Eastern most border with Myanmar and provides everything from assualt rifles to edible items to that country. It even conducts joint patrols on their borders. Myanmar is a member of the BIMSTEC. That is the organisation that Modi was trumpeting as the most favored regional grouping of India. Yet you still think India has no influence over there? But you were happy to connect some sort of responsibility for Myanmar's problems to Pakistan?

Sir you have answered your own question, as all countries need a mix of light and heavy fighters for their varied operations. Saudis currently only operate heavy fighters, and so clearly have a requirement for a light fighter. This is why the USAAF was recently considering to retire its F-15s in favor of maintaining its fleet of F-16s. The Saudi forces were also prolific users of the F-5 Freedom fighters, which was a lighter fighter as compared to the JF-17 and the withdrawal of which has left a void in the Saudi air force for a light fighter bomber.

The JF-17 will also allow the Saudi government to kick start domestic fighter jet production, which seems to be a primary aim of the current leadership, as evidenced by their agreement with Antonov.

India has influence with Myanmar. India has its own priorities in reducing violence. India is not their biggest trading partner. India is not their biggest arm supplier.

I never said Pakistan is responsible for Myanmar's problems. You have no issue with your flagship combat aircraft being sold to Myanmar.
