Bro do u know BIT (Bangladesh International tutorial) at Gulshan? They teach French and Chinese.

I am not Denying the existence but my qoustion was why the hell french instead of more important language like Arabic?

Chinese on the other hand is a good lanuage to learn....

in Pakistan you learn Arabic and Persian languages in your schools. I don't think they teaches any other European languages in most part of the country at least

Is it recent addition? Most pakistani aren't fluent in Arabic or Farsi.

I understand many of you can read and write Arabic and Farsi..

Unless you are talking about madrasa. As in Pakistan, Bd also teaches Arabic and Farsi in madrasa and other Islamic institution.

no it is common in most of the Government schools of Pakistan.

I studied first few years in the primary school where they teached urdu then moved to English Medium school where upto Class 5 where they teached English, Urdu and Arabic (not sure about Farsi) and then moved to Government school for 2 years where they teached Arabic, Urdu, English and Farsi in class 5 and 6 before i moved to UK.

I am sure most of the government schools teaches Arabic and Farsi but hardly any students pay attention to these subjects. I can only remember few words of both respective languages that i learnt from the school and that was back in year 2000

I guess he preferred chinese due to three obvious reasons

1) Chinese is the most spoken language in the world
2) Chinese are your neighbours
3) China becoming a super power and the language do help bring two nations closer - and it is always to good have to good relationships with the super powers

and i would recommend both languages - Childrens must have an option to learn one additional language of their choice in the schools of our subcontinent (like in europe) let them chose what language they want to study be it Chinese, French or any other language.

French is a very helpful language for several reasons and our subcontinent should teach this language also in some school/colleges of the country

In history people have not learned Bangla when Bangladesh was part of Pakistan.

3. If ever china becomes super power you don't have to learn their language or eat like them or dress like them.

Still you don't speak Chinese and claim to be good friend of China Or not??

So when at present without speaking Chinese you are their best friend then there is no need to learn Chinese for that reason.
